Mitch McConnell announces that Republicans won’t go after the Democrat base

mitch mcconnell

D’oh. Mitch McConnell just destroyed any chance Republicans had to cut into the Democrat base:

“What Republicans are offering the American people is a pledge,” McConnell said, “a pledge to do everything in our power to restore government to a size and scope that leads to some semblance of competency. We’re not going to tell you that if you vote Republican, you’re going to wake up in your dream home with a brand new Corvette outside ready to take you to the best job in the world. You know why? Because government can’t deliver that promise.”

No dream home? No Corvette? No fabulous job for which we’re not qualified?

Apparently, McConnell is willing to cede the deadbeat vote to the Democrats.

  • Whenever people complain about capitalism and the rich and what not I have to ask people where you able to get a job from a poor person at some point? Can you get jobs from a poor person? A poor person or a person that has no funds to pay for your skills will not hire you. Only people that have money can hire you. The government can hire you yes, but the govt doesnt generate its own money per se. It gets its funds primarily from people who work and people who pay taxes and people who have property, etc. The government needs people to sustain itself and if people decide they are not going to pursue happiness anymore and let the government do it for them, the government will go bankrupt and the government and everyone with it will be devastated. It is on the backs of industry, capitalism, etc that the government rides on. It is very simple I dont understand why people cannot understand that.

    • Kimmy, Greece and Spain come to mind....then what are all these do nothing, contribute nothing, bottom dwelling lemmings going to do?

Well, for a start, complain and riot that that government ran out of money to pay them to continue to be do nothing, contribute nothing, bottom dwelling lemmings, of course. That is what happened in Greece and Spain, and will become the dominant factor throughout Europe soon. And then....wait for it.....................it will happen here in the Greatest Nation on Earth!!!!!!!!!! It'll be fantastic!

Aren't these bottom dwellers and the incompetent baboon administration wonderful! Sunshine and lollipops for everyone!

  • Golly Gee, josh.....where, oh where do you get your information? Speaking of talking points, that your idiot it chief's domain.

A few FACTS for you below. I caution you though, you may not like them...not that it matters, nor that I care.

    1. National Debt which continues to grow, and grow, and grow; The national deficit under George Bush was only $200B when odumbocrats took office in Jan 2006. That deficit was created in support of many things, in part due to the attacks on 9/11 (remember that?) and the necessity of building agencies to counter those types of activities along with substantial amounts of money to the city of NY and the rest of the country to counter potential problems by the growing threat. Add to that the necessity of taking the war to the terrorists as opposed to allowing them to do it again, it required taking the war to Iraq, the number one state supporter of terrorism at the time, to wit, al queda chicken turds and the taliban bananas (trying to make the facts fun for you). When we attacked Iraq, the al queda chicken turds and taliban bananas ran to afghanistan and other areas throughout the middle east (btw, you can thank the irresponsible left wing media for broadcasting to the world 12 weeks in advance of the invasion that we were coming so they had time). Even with those additional expenses, the deficit was ONLY $200B. Those are all facts, the truth, and I don't care what you think about them or whether you believe them or not. liberals never have done well with facts, or truth.

    2. For a generic 3rd grade civics lesson, an area where you must have been sleeping in school after smoking that big fatty, congress generates budgets....and since the odumbocrats had majorities (since 2006), budgets submitted to the president (Bush) were bloated, fat, idiotic, irresponsible (typical of odumbocrats - check your history), and whenever Bush wanted to veto those bloated, fat, idiotic, irresponsible budgets, the odumbcrats threatened to cut the war provisions to the warfighter in the field...that would not be good, and I am sure your pea brain doesn't remember that either....liberals have such short memories....as do, sadly, most Americans today. With the threat of budget cuts to the wargfighter, Bush was forced to sign them.

And of course, you liberal types like to talk about the budget surplus Clinton had...well, here's a pin in your bubble son, it was because Republicans had control of congress to avert Clinton's love of spending as seen during his first term...again, review the 3rd grade civics lesson above. Remember, congress controls the budget process, NOT the president.

    3. Financial Crisis; odumbocrats were in charge of Fannie and Freddie for years, and it was originally an odumbocrat entitlement program (shucks, josh, there they go again!), known as the Community Reinvestment Act. When the markets began to feel the pain of those irresponsible loan programs (I am sure you've never had a mortgage or understand the whole process and don't really want to school you on just how they got into the system here in this forum) to people who could never pay them back, threatening to destroy the financial systems we all count on (except maybe for you - do you even have a job, I mean, other than at Starbucks?) Bush wanted to help, and the TARP program began. Bush allocated $300B to the program, but only half of that was actually given to banks prior to his departure. The deficit was still well under $400B.

BTW, as a set up for the below, there is ALWAYS a minor recession at the end of a lame duck presidential session (they're always worse after an odumbocrat). So, your idiot in chief's big mouth made the problem worse, talking down the economy (every single day, over and over, and over) to where those of us that actually create jobs and contribute to society (very likely you are not in our group of doers based on your uneducated and inane comments) were not encouraged to create more jobs in our companies (which is a cost center) and waited to see what was going to happen. so this time period could have been normal, but, meanwhile back at the odumbo ranch, this group of fools made the deficit worse, by beginning to pass more bills and further entitlement programs getting the deficit to $1.8T today, and with the rest of the irresponsible liberal programs, like, say, cars for everyone on MY dime (not yours, starbucks doens't pay you enough for you to even pay taxes), and of course, hell-thcare, we are on track to have a national deficit of over $14T by 2017! Isn't it wonderful? These are but a few more facts, though I am sure your pea brain cannot fathom them because real world facts differ from the otherworldly lack of facts espoused by the idiot in chief that you apparently so adore proving beyond doubt your lack of intellect or grasp of reality.

Everything above is true, and factual. I could go on and on with facts mindless people like you would never understand because you are too wrapped up in buying BS from this completely irresponsible and totally incompetent administration. BTW, you might as well know your share of that deficit...it will be over $100K...how the hell are you going to pay that working at Starbucks?

    Get a brain.....

    • Thank you for the childish reply, it epitomizes conservatives from what I can see. "I know what I'll do, I'm going to try to act intelligent... and insult him with childish remarks while spewing "facts" from my mouth! AHUR AHUR AHUR". No one is amused by the fact that you don't seem to be able to partake in our democracy without resorting to insults, grow the f--- up.

I like how you try and wiggle your way out of it by saying "Well.. the dems took office in 2006." First of all you must be mixing up your "facts" with rethuglican talking points... see how easy I can make up childish nicknames for the opposition? (again, grow up) According to the 2006 Financial Report of The United States it was... 3.5 trillion. Swallow that for a moment... 3.5 trillion, compared to your 200b? How did you come up with such a ridiculous number? Well I did some extra research for you, I know, that must be hard for you since you're so used to simply taking talking points but it's worth the effort my child! The $248 billion federal budget deficit figure results from what basically amounts to a "cash flow analysis". On a cash basis, the Treasury takes all the tax revenue, including Social Security taxes, as current income. The trick is that Treasury essentially steals the money that comes in on Social Security taxes, without accounting for any offsetting Social Security liability. When you run your accounting that way, the Treasury gets to report a federal budget deficit that dramatically reduces the real figure. (Btw, that's also why that EVIL ENTITLEMENT program social security is so far in the red, they've been stealing our hard earned social security for years).

Oh wow.. you're second point is almost as silly as the first one! I'm sure Bush really felt his arm being twisted as he forced his agenas through Congress anyway. I'll take this opportunity to discuss what I missed out on getting into in my first bit, is that both of those wars were completely idiotic and unnecessary. Yes, 9/11 happened(Under Bush's watch, he was too busy being on vacation for most of his begining administration to notice I guess) but we had a completely ridiculous knee-jerk response to it that has simply gotten us into more trouble. I could literally spend all day talking about the idiocy of invading the land that is the death of all empires, and the lying about the neccessity to invade Iraq because Bush wouldn't get the guy that tried to assassinate his Daddy. If you're criteria was accurate for each country we should invade, we'd be back in Somalia and a number of other countries as well but we're not... because those don't fit the strategic interests that we went after(oil and putting the Saudies at ease).

Oh lord here we go with this democrat entitlement program crap again. I've heard this talking point over and over again and it's stupid. The banks did not have their arms twisted to hand out those bad loans, they played the incentives system set up the community reinvestment act. You must enjoy the stench of bull shit because you're being led around by the nose with it. First off, the crises is private industries fault to the upteenth degree, with the Government having a hand in it with the extreme deregulation. (you can thank them for the oil spill btw). Bush wanted to help... lol, yes I'm sure he was the saviour in white shining armor! Your condescending tone doesn't suddenly make your lies true, thanks for again being childish though, I know very well what a mortage is. Tell you what though, I don't want to explain everything to your little whiney childish self(I have enough people to teach) so I'll let you look this up yourself: Derivatives please TRY and do some real research this time though.

Not even going to bother with your last childish rant... and everything you stated is not "true and factual". Try doing some real research next time, thanks. Also, I don't work at star bucks but first you complain about entitlement programs then you look down on someone with a job? Even if it is starbucks I find it disgusting that you scream about that, then look down your nose at someone who is obviously willing to work. Bit of a contradiction isn't it? Though I guess that's to be expected from a rethuglican.

      • joshy, son....take a deep breath and take a couple of your meddies, this is going to take a moment....

Number one....I didn't throw out insults, as everyone knows, that is the domain of the liberals...it is theri domain because they rarely if ever have any facts, or logic to back up their claims. It is quite clear today with the race card being played on everything...when none of this has anything to do with race, or the fact that odumbo is black...it has everything to do with his policies, socialisic european policies. And guess what? It isn't going to work. It is, factually, only dividing the country further than he has already done, this wonderful post racial president.

So to start, it is interesting to me that it took you so long to get your talking point card back from your soros foundation hacks...no matter which site, but it took them a while, and here you are again. Yes, the $248B. That was , factually, the then current budget deficit. It is interesting that you bring up the "theft" from Social Security...that was a rule that your friend, oand ours, jimmy carter decided to break. When SS was incepted, it was the rule that it was to go into a fund, not to be touched by anyone, and was to gain in value at about 15%, to assure growth for that money so that cost of living could be built in. When carter found that his liberal policies could not be funded with current tax rates, not only did the tax rate increase, but he decided it would be ok to steal from SS, with the intention of replacing it....that never happens, and I'll give you this, republican or democrat.

The problem, josh, is that when these irresponsible entitlement programs take hold, it is difficult at best to take them away....(check the recent news from Greece for a direct example). The $3.5T you state, was projected over a decade....not the current budget, josh. But you forget, that number did not take into account the $4.5T increase in GDP under Bush, yes josh, $4.5T INCREASE, which would provide sufficient tax revenue to balance that number at the end of that decade. Under odumbo what do we have? A new budget deficit over the next decade of over $13.T (for simply math sake, especially for you, that's over 4.5 times what Bush's would have ever been). What else do we have? Losses in employment, that even tax increases to everyone alive in the US up to 80% would never cover, not over 25 years. And yes, josh, these losses are your hero's fault. All of them...accept the reality, son...I know its hard for you, its hard for all liberals because history and logic never enters the picture. You can look at the current report from odumbo's own IG at the treasury for data to support a portion of that fact. It is online...45 pages....clear, concise, factual and shows the direct pattern of idiocy of liberal policy and the idiotic decicions made by your hero comrade leader.

Can't even begin to address your second paragraph....you, are apparently, clueless (normal for liberals). Once again, negating the facts...you stated none, and you apparently didn't pay any attention to the 3rd grade civics lesson in my last post...again. But let's remember something important, the bombing of the towers was in planning far before GWB took office, and who was president prior? Ummm, so who was ignoring intel data and not taking the threat seriously which chatter had been heard for over a year?...and who essentially destroyed the white house so that it took months to get a handle on things when GWB took office.....something else GWB didn't do to odumbo? Again, and here is a name for you (my turn), moron....

And your third paragraph....joshy, it is quite difficult to have intellectual discussion with those who are not.....you, son, are not. You know nothing about economics, and clearly nothing about the banking or mortgage markets or how they work...how mortagages have been traded as "derivatives" for many, many years (well before Bush). You also don't seem to realize that the regulations, already in place, were not managed properly, since well before GWB was in office....the derivative programs were the brainchild of a few during your hero clinton's presidency and the enhancement of CRA.....and not to give GWB too much credit, he was a little busy with 9/11, two wars (one of which was started well before he took office), 5 major hurricanes, and whiny little liberals blaming him for everything that went wrong in NOLA.

To be fair, my comment about your job at Starbucks, has nothing to do with denigrating your job there (see there you go again!). It has everything to do with the fact that with that job, you don't really even pay any taxes...sure they take some out every two weeks.....but you get it all back at the end of the year....so, you are not a tax payer, in reality...there's that word again....

Enough josh, you aren't winning any arguments, and once the facts, yes, facts, started flying, you resort to name calling....next you'll call me a racist.... And, who was it that started the name calling? Please see the first paragraph in both my posts....

You're excused now....I am quite sure your buddy soros has someone else for you to annoy...

    • And another thing, joshy, if it weren't for Corporate America, you would have no opportunity for a job.... What part of that reality are you struggling with?

    • To those of us WITH brains, sorry about that last paragraph....it was, I admit, a little run-on....got busy for a moment and didn't check my work....hate it when that happens.....

  • Golly gee willikers I'm so glad you all were around when Bush deliberatly spent away the surplus our Government had to force it to "tighten it's belt" and the continued to spend ludicrous amounts. The only reason this subject is even brought up is because you want to use your own failings against the party in charge. Oh yeah, that surplus came from a Democrat.. after fixing the budget that the Teflon President broke and again sky rocketed our debt.

Republicans are a wholly owned subsidiary of Corporate America, stop feeding their weak talking points and propaganda with support just so they can turn around and ask you to bend over. Though the Democrats are getting there as well(though not as bad). Try focusing on real issues, PLEASE, make both parties tell the truth.

    • Gosh, Josh, maybe you weren't listening as real conservatives were highly critical of Bush's fiscal policies. Comparitively speaking, Bush was playing with matches and now your boy is burning down entire city blocks.
That surplus came from a REPUBLICAN controlled congress. Remember when Bubba had his a$$ kicked during his 1st mid term elections? Yes Dubya should have cut spending in other areas as he ramped up to fight two wars, but he didn't have the spine.
Nevertheless, I HOPE that very soon the moronic middle will wake up and vote for real CHANGE.
Keep complaining 'bout Bush, that's very effective.

      • I was listening, in fact during that time period I listened to quite a lot of conservatives and I didn't hear a peep. It's very convenient of you to say "Well... REAL conservatives were highly critical!" but I saw no action taken, none of this "Tea Party Movement" or any of this vitriol associated with what Bush did and you analogy of the Bush/Obama spending is quite laughable.

Clintons administration balanced that budget after The Teflon Man soared our debt(funny how that always happens). It wasn't about Bush not having the spine, he DELIBERATELY put us into a debt as a policy to shrink the Government, don't you remember after they spent all the surplus Bush came out and said it was a GOOD thing? And that Congress would have "watch" what they spent it on? Ya... I can see they did that!

Please don't insult the middle class, it is the most important thing in this country and they've been taking it up the rear since Nixon helped advance corporate personhood.

Also, what is with you people and your childish little nicknames? Bubba? Dubya? It seems "Conservatives" can't have any sort of actual civil discourse without a bit of slander/vitriol/childish name poking/etc/etc coming out of their mouths. Well, I guess they can't really have a civil discourse at all, I've experienced it first hand over and over.

        • Seems like you started the Teflon President bit Josh. Maybe you should check yourself. Typical.

      • Bingo. Conservatives were bitching that Bush43 would'nt veto any of the insane spending that happened on his watch. His 2nd term was really bad on that account.

    • Better that you should resent the actions of the POTUS in spending this country ( and you ) into an economic hole that we may not be able to escape. Check back with us after April 15, 2011 and tell us how much your taxes went down ( seriously, not sarcasm ).

  • Even college-educated women are having second thoughts about voting to eat their kid's lunch, they didn't realize that Obama was going to sell their kid's dinner to China too. Reality is shrinking the Democrat base.

  • I agree with what he is saying...but gee whiz...how about getting a more inspirational speaker out front to deliver the message.

  • Refreshing. In the past it seemed that the governing philosophy of Beltway Republicans was to maintain or grow deadbeat socialism rather that limiting it. In doing so, they figured they could run it better than the Democrats, problem is a socialist program or mandate is still just that; socialist, even if Republicans are "running" things.

Glad to see McConnell is wising up a bit, pandering to the lowest common denominator just to buy their vote will always backfire. But I wonder, will he stay to course or cave? I am not holding my breath.
