The cliche' is that the dem's care about the little guy, the regular people.
Once again, we have proof that the cliche' is just that, and a load of bull manure to boot. These people "care" about the regular people as a concept, and only as far as the cliche' helps them a) get re-elected, and b) feel good about themselves. When it comes to actual regular people, the real flesh-and-blood individuals with names, they crush them as soon as look at them if they either stand in the way, or have outlived their usefulness.
Heck, they crush each other the moment it is percieved that one of them has outlived their usefulness - the Russian gulags were filled with more die-hard commies than enemies. They are no different here, except for the gulag part. For now, at least.
