It seems that somebody somewhere made an awful lot of money making betting that the United States would lose its AAA credit rating.
Not surprisingly some are suggesting that George Soros might be that somebody. What is surprising, however, is that so many considered this eventuality to be a longshot.

A mystery investor or hedge fund reportedly made a bet of almost $1billion at odds of 10/1 last month that the U.S. would lose its AAA credit rating.
Now questions are being asked of whether the trader had inside information before placing the $850million bet in the futures market, or if the bet happened at all.
There were mounting rumours that investor George Soros, 80, famously known as ‘the man who broke the Bank of England’, could be involved.

He made more than $1billion on currency speculation when the British pound left the Exchange Rate Mechanism on Black Wednesday in 1992.
And while it is not a certainty that George Soros was behind this one thing is abundantly clear. Whoever made all this money betting against the health of the U.S. economy has just about as much faith in Obamanomics as we do.

I remember Glenn Beck stating that this man may have come out of nothing, but instead of incentivating others to do the same, he is BLOCKING others from doing what he did. He is selfish, he is devious and evil. It is all good for these people to preach that they should do more an that there should be more ethics, but it is clear that they do not practice it. It is highly disgusting.
Soros has a long history of collapsing markets for his personal gain, & he is a classic mega rich progressive. In the sense that now that he got his, he's more then willing to pull the ladder so nobody else can compete with him. He is as evil as some despotic 3rd world dictator as far as I'm concerned, & much worse in most cases.
I would bet not only that it was him, but that he was further instrumental in the manipulations that made the downgrade all but inevitable.

I'm a lawyer (forgive me) working in Boston in a room full of other temp. lawyers, many of whom are so far out to the left, I swear I've never actually met people who think and talk like that. I keep my mouth shut whenever the subject turns to politics, which, yes, usually ends up in a Bush-bashing party. I feel like it's the end of the movie "Invasion of the Body Snatchers," and I'm carefully aping the walk and manner of the Pod People, or else I'll end up surrounded by pointing, screaming Donald Sutherlands, exposed as the one who dares to think differently.

ha, ha, ha... Actually I wanted to be a lawyer when I was young but it just was not for me...
Overall though we DO need lawyers (give me a minute people lol) there has to be someone that does speak for you in the court who KNOWS the laws of the land so you wont get screwed over, however of course like everything else one can take things too far.
Overall though as a Christian I realize that dealing with non-Christians is very difficult when it comes to civil matters, and it is very useful to have Christians study law and become attorneys to represent a lay Christian person in a secular civil court. This morning I heard about this boy, forgot where, who was harrassed by two lesbians because he just happened to post something on his own personal facebook; a link for gays who may be looking for a way to stop their lifestyles if they want to. The girls even call the cops on him, and got the school officials to suspend him. He was also harrassed and sent threatening messages and emails and texts. Without an attorney protecting his rights, that boy's reputation could have been damaged. All he did was post information on his own personal facebook that has nothing to do with the school and he never met nor spoke to those lesbians. So yes we need attorneys, it just so happens that it is best to have good/moral attorneys and sadly there are a lot that aren't.
I love that you used that analogy. The original short story was itself an allegory about communism. It was a perfect fit for the Red Scare era.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was him. He is such an arrogant bastard though that I am not ure why he wouldn't come out and just say it was him. He said that it was fun playing with economies in Europe and he made darn sure everyone knew it was him that broke England. He disgusts me.
I hope that Soros assumes room temperature in the very near future.
I work near a communist. Todays rant "all the millionairs need to be strung up - gutted and left" I did not get into the converstaion, it is difficult to talk to a person that has been lied to about life and history .
I wanted to ask if in his rant did it include communist millionairs like: George Soros, the hollywood bunch, the film makers, the politicians like Pelozzy and all them. I don't think he would put his death rant actions on them leftees, he would be more select like those on the right.
Back to the "this is good for the world but not for me" agenda.

If it was Soros, then I wouldn't be surprised if some of that money ends up as a million anonymous $20.00 donations to one Barack Hussein Obama.
