Nation’s children push back against Michelle Obama-backed school lunch regs

Nation’s children push back against Michelle Obama-backed school lunch regs. Students nationwide are not only saying “Where’s the beef?” They’re saying “Where’s the food?”

  • I don't know why parents put up with this shit. Buy an old fashioned lunchbox, the kind with a thermous in it, and pack a lunch for your kids. A couple of sammiches, soup, juice or milk in the thermous, fruit, potato chips and a sweet for desert. Twinkies always worked for me.

Think of how much money the taxpayers would save if schools did not need cafeteria workers, cooking food that no kid wants and gets thrown in the trash. This nonsense would go out the door in a hurry if school lunchrooms were just that, a place to sit and eat a lunch brought from home. The food servers unions would be raising hell in a heart beat.

  • You know, while reading these comments, it hit me...the food police are creating a new wave of voter, in that someday soon everyone will be voting for a Democrat when that Democrat promises to put a bag of chips and a 1/2 pint carton of chocolate milk in everyone's government monthly goodie bag.

  • The Wookie needs to go and have a nice warm cup of shut the fuck up. We have a epidemic of stupid, that's this countries problem.

  • "The standards — which cap meal calories at 650 for students in kindergarten through fifth grade, at 700 calories for middle school students and 850 for high school students..."

Many years ago when I was 13 or 14, I remember a friend telling me he ate 4500 calories a day. He was not overweight so if he was accurate, he was burning a lot of energy. Of course, in those days we played outside a lot more than kids do now (no video games or computers back then.) But I gotta think my friend would've starved to death within a week on the new "standards".

    • Teenage boys all go through a stage, sooner or later, when they barely have enough time to eat all the food their body craves every day. I was always skinny as a rail, but I remember coming down from my bedroom in the morning, opening a brand new box of cereal, and eating the whole thing in one sitting. Then going back to bed. Drove my mom crazy. My dad, who had 9 brothers, understood that boys grow in spurts and need serious fuel when they're doing it. On Sunday evenings I would open a new loaf of bread and eat toasted peanut butter and jelly sandwiches until the loaf was gone. Later, when the next generation had a bunch of teenage boys all at once, we made a family rule that teenage boys had to eat last so other people got something to eat.

  • Parents, not congress, or any politician for that matter, should decide what their children can and can not have. I don't need some suit, a thousand miles from where I live, telling me what is okay to eat and what isn't. If I put a twinkie in my kid's lunch box, it's because she likes them, and a SINGLE twinkie never killed anyone. It's when you eat 20 boxes of them a day.

  • The picture shows a pretty unappetizing mess, but it looks like cabbage soup; that was a stand-by holiday meal in most soviet prisons during the Cold War.

  • The democrat command and control system can't even manage to make kids lunches reasonable. And these are the people demanding we trust them with our health care. Arrogant idiots.
