Actually, he reminds me a lot of another Nebraskan politician from years gone by: William Jennings Bryan. WJB was in a political situation where the intelligent arguments for and against any given issue were already taken, so he argued the idiot's side. As a rhetorician, he was good, I suppose -- but we want more out of our 'leaders' than empty words and promises.

According to Wikipedia he was term-limited out of office in 2009, then when he was eligible again they voted him right back into the state legislature.
