New rules make it easier for ATF to seize guns without due process

• It's sh!t like this that Ted Nugent was talking about about when he said what he said that got him a visit from the Secret Service.

• Looks like 'Dear Leader's" Blue Shirts won't be far behind. So what's next, get caught with a seed, they confiscate your house?

• More power to the government? What could possibly go wrong?

• Innocent until proven guilty is the law of this country or at least it was until barry came along. It's time for the people to stand up and demand his removal from office even before the election. Here is yet another gift to Romney and Ryan if they will use it. Check your history, once the populace has been disarmed, it's just that much closer to a totalitarian state. That is exactly what the dim wits and the msm which to have. The haves and the have nots.

• I don't agree with this because it can, and probably will, affect law abiding citizens, but I can understand where they are coming from, and I will give you an example.

  I used to have scumbag neighbors living next to me. The most I've seen anyone of the 5 that were living there hold a job was about a month. They dealt drugs, did drugs, were thieves, the one prick was real quick to violence, I think half of their vocabulary was made up of curse words, and they were just all around shitty excuses for human beings. Everyone of them will eventually be in jail (and I think 2 were in jail before).

  So one day the cops had to be called because of their antics. They went in there, searched their house, took their guns, and arrested the one. Well I was glad to see their guns taken away. The day these people moved in, my shotgun was within arms reach every night before I went to bed. I even took the plug out, I figured there's 5 of them, I need more than just 3 shots. So I slept pretty good knowing they were unarmed (or less armed, who knows with those idiots). Unfortunately, a week or 2 later, everything was dropped, their guns were returned, I talked to the cop and he apologized that there was nothing they could do because the cops knew these people were up to no good and regularly broke the law. Fortunately, they moved out about 2 months later.

  On that, I would agree with this law, but it will eventually become routine to seize peoples guns and all of us honest gun owners would be affected. They only thing we can do is protect ourselves.

  • Joe, I get your feelings on the situation. It's just that the government seems bound and determined to take away the guns from those of us that are on the right side of the law. That is the problem.

  • I sympathize with your situation.

    The problem is that this executive order allows any government official to drop a roach on your front doorstep and then proceed to take your guns away. Drug dealers, by definition have access to a source of illegal drugs. In my experience, they also have access - often from the same source - of illegal guns.

    • That brings up an excellent point! If the government can get the weapons out of the LEGAL owner's hands, the law abiding have no way to get them back. By default, the illegal gun owners do not have any such concerns, as they have unlimited illegal weapons at their disposal.

      What NEEDS to be done is that anyone caught with an illegal weapon should be punished FAST and HARSHLY. As it stands now, illegal guns are almost like pot in the 70's. The gun gets confiscated and the charges get dropped (unless they re part of a bigger crime.) The CRIMINALS know this better than the average citizen does, so they have no fear about having a weapon on them 24/7.

      It's not rocket science. A guy with an illegal gun is already breaking the law, and statistically they are up to no good. So kick them in the butt fast just for that reason. Get THEM off the streets, get their weapon off the street, and make illegal weapons less common to just carry around.

      • The end result is eventually the federal government will find ways to make us all criminals. How else do you develop maximum coercive power?

        • There are volumes of codes. US, state, county and city. I'd make a wager everyone in the US is already a criminal.

        • That is precisely why their message is often so seductive. Just like how a good lie is based in a nugget of truth so is a good power grab based on a legitimate grievance. How many want to adopt the fascist philosophy on rights (that they are issued by the states and distributed as a communal privilege to the collective) instead of the notion that our rights are universal, the gifts of Providence and may not be taken away only subverted by entities that have no authority to do so. And their reasoning? Because slavery initially existed under our system. So in essence because once upon a time there was not enough freedom protected by our system they are seeking to remove its ability to protect any and all freedom. They're tricky like that.

• So just to be clear . . . they're going to ignore our right to due process and remove guns from "suspected" substance abusers while giving guns to confirmed drug dealers. WTF.
