This and Wayne Rogers (Trapper John) died yesterday.
Both stories are depressing for very different reasons.
Not that this waste of money will do anything for all the non-perverted, non-transgender vets dying waiting for care, while the VA staff gets huge bonuses every year.
This is just one of the reasons that I'm not letting the VA do my surgery on the 12th of Jan.
I can understand that you want to wake up with your man parts intact lol
That's not where the surgery is going to be, but that's the point!
You never know where they want to cut things... better be safe than sorry!

Now I know what to do the next time I need to go to the VA for something, I'll borrow a dress from my neighbors wife. I may not be as pretty as Klinger, or as hairy, but I'm sure she has something that will be appropriate for my appointment. Maybe that way I won't have to wait 6 friggin' months to talk to a doctor for treatment.
When do women vets get their clinic at the VA? They've been talking about it for years! Nada.
If you know any lady vets living more that 40 miles from their nearest VA facility tell them about the Choice Card program. We vets that live far from a VA doctor can use the program to see a doctor at our local clinics instead of waiting forever for an appointment at the VA.
Even though it is a new system and a typical gooberment clusterflock it is still better than having to wait to see a doctor. Any veteran you know, who lives more than 40 miles from a VA facility, is eligible. For info they can go to http://www.va.gov/opa/choiceact/ or call 1-866-606-8198.
Good luck with that. It took me 2 months for them to get back to me about an eye appointment. They weren't convinced that it wasn't safe for me to drive 37 miles home from an appointment when they dilated my eyes and did a diabetic eye exam.
I'm sticking with TriCare for the pregnancy, being retired, I can do that. Not even ATTEMPTING to deal with the VA on that one. They'd only refer me to where I'm going anyway after trying to figure out I need an OB and not a proctologist. 69 days until terminal leave!

Yea, the SNAFU at the VA is just one of the reasons I won't let them do my cervical disc surgery. I doubt I could get the surgery scheduled before I died! More likely that they would want a colonoscopy first.
