New York drowning in bribes and corruption. And what color is New York politically? Followup question: is anyone anywhere on the planet surprised?

  • Look at the split. The coastal states in the northeast and west coast plus a few states in the great lakes region with constant communication with the afflicted east coast states. They have been convinced that the sophisticated, enlightened and well educated are liberals and the ignorant undeducated and unaware hicks are conservative. I promise you, most liberals think conservatives don't have 2 functioning rin cells to run together. Personally, I think it is the reverse!

  • I dare say NYC will beat Detroit as America's official Cesspool. Better put a wall around the place while you still can.

    • Only if business leaves NYC & NY as a whole. Think about what happens if, for example, the financial industry left NYC. The city would turn into Detroit in a few years. I would love to see it happen.

      • And it kills me the dirty little secret nobody on the left will talk about and that's the massive tax breaks they give to keep "entertainment" from bolting. TV shows, News shows, Soaps, Movies, all gone if they had to pay anything near what a 'normal' business does.

  • From the way the story reads, it pays to have friends in high places with low morals. NYC is headed back to the Ed Koch and David Dinkins days of being a cesspool.

  • I'm especially depressed seeing New England solid blue now. Maine & New Hampshire used to be reliably Republican, and even when I was growing up in Connecticut it was at least a two-party state -- we had Republican governors and senators (even if Lowell Weicker was a left-wing jerk, he at least had an R after his name), Stamford had Republican mayors. Now . . . all gone.

    On another note . . . Creepy Crawley has gone . . . and suddenly Olivia pops up again. COINCIDENCE?!?!

      Okay, I am NOT the only one who noticed that.

      • On second thought though . . . Lovey Livvy is pretty certainly a nurse and does put coherent sentences together -- to the point of "TL;DR," in fact; whereas Creepy is almost certainly unemployed living in someone's attic and has the creativity of one rearranging the same dozen or so words, chiefly gold, greed, and corporate.

    • I remember my parents registering to vote in the Simsbury town hall in 1972 (we moved from Boston). The woman who took their information rhetorically asked, "you're Republican....right?"

      Since then my father went to the dark side because of the crazy woman he married about 15 years ago. My mother is further to the right than I am. He's still in Connecticut and my mother lives in a red state. Go figure.

      • Liberalism is like the plague. The infection keeps spreading. Northern Nevada is reliably Republican but the influx from Northern California is slowly infecting the area with stupidity. The difference in cost of living means a California government worker can retire like a king in Nevada. It's sad to watch. Here where I grew up, it was so conservative I thought it would never change but downtown Grand Rapids has grown a huge homosexual population and city politics have swung to the crazy side. The only hope conservatives have is that we breed more than liberals. The left has a tendency to be too selfish for the sticky process of having and raising children.

          The Root Cause of virtually every problem on this planet is liberalism...and here we are.

          But their constituency breed like rabbits and they work tirelessly to flood the country with Third Worlders who expect and were promised free shit.

          • You'd be surprised by the demographics. The only Americans breeding at replacement levels are first generation immigrants and evangelical Christians. (And I include ultra-conservative Catholics in my evangelical definition. I have some of them in my family - cousins - and they make the Amish look like San Francisco libertines... and they have enormous numbers of kids.)

        • Progressives rely on incessant greed. Both ends. On one side we have the politicians who crave more power and achieve that end by creating laws to permit the looting and the giving away of labor and property of the productive class to people, on the other side of the same coin, who only want more of the same.

  • While the current examples are appalling, the utter bs in the first sentence is prime IHTM. Yeah, it all started w/ "Bush's Wall Street" and spread statewide from there
