    It really did not help Obama wanting to legalize drugs in this country, AND, AND the Obama Admiistration is still pushing for a path to legalization in Latin America "namely south america".

    In Central America the Obama Administration agreed that it would enforce anti-narcotic efforts with in the United States in trying to curb the drug violence, but the messages that they are sending to the cartels is mixed.

    • Oh. LOL! I actually didn't get any of that from the $2 bill comment. I took it to mean, "It will get you about as far as a $2 bill." As in - can't buy much with that any more.

      • No, I meant a $2 bill. I know that there was a $2 bill in circulation at some point, however it is not in circulation anymore and someone that uses it gets a look that it may not be real in some cases to the extreme: http://www.wnd.com/2005/04/29732/. It LOOKS weird or "queer" as many generations of people have never seen it or if they have, it is a weird thing when they do and therefore it is an apt statement and people can say $2 or $3 interchangeably.

        • Sorry, where I grew up it was always the 3 dollar bill. Since there was no bill in this denomination ever produced, a 3 dollar bill would really be phony.
          Back in the 90's a magazine called Slick Times printed some joke 3 dollar bills. The first one had a picture of Bill Clinton, with some joke phrases on the bill. They had some with Hillary and others. Al Gore was on there 99 cent bill, because he "was not worth a buck." In 2008 they made some with Obama's picture. The ultra thin skinned Obama people went ballistic. They are not capable of humor.

          • That is wonderful. I still stand by my statement. I really cannot believe the push back on this it is actually very odd.

        • $2 when they were reintroduced never caught on for a couple reasons. First and most obvious, cash register drawers had no place for them, so they were an aggravation to merchants.

          Second, a lot more obscure now, is the reason they fell out of favor in the first place - there had been $2 bills before -- waaaay back in the good old days, $2 was the legendary fee for one of those naughty night ladies! So anyone - especially a woman - carrying around $2 bills could be the subject of snarky remarks. Allegedly, some of that bad reputation carried over into more modern times. At least that is what my mother used to tell me....

          • The phrase is actually 'Queer as a three dollar bill.' The modern jagging up of the language is at fault for the popularity of this misunderstanding.

      • In KQ's defence, she might not be aware that there was once a two dollar bill in circulation here. She immigrated here and became a nauralized citizen. I think that $2 bill came and went long before her time here. My kids are only aware of it because their grandfather had some stored away with the coin collection he left for them.

        • Thanks however, I am actually aware that there was a $2 bill and I have seen and touched one, but the feeling is that it is weird or "queer" as it is not in circulation and people do not use it on a day to day basis. I could have very easily said one dollar COIN with the Native American lady (Sacagawea) or any other design as those have not been very popular and people do not use them on a day to day basis either.

    • I disagree with your third choice, Herbert Hover. If, for no other reason than, he was a Republican. Unlike O'butthead, Hover was a successful Mining Engineer, started his own business and was a multimillionaire before entering public office.         Those are all good things, however unfortunately his experience wasn't enough to deal with the pressures of running the country, that is why I hope that Romney knows what he is doing, because he is also very successful outside of public office. One can make the case that he didn't necessarily make MA a better state with his socialized version of healthcare among other things. I could have chosen FDR or even Wilson (he would have been obvious), but Hoover resonates for his failures that lead to or increased the Depression. He enlarged government and created new taxes that in essences laid the ground work for FDR. The only reason FDR gets so much respect is because of WWII in essence put people to work, but a lot of his New Deal crap yielded no real results, if WWII hadn't happened the Great Depression would have continued into the 40's and 50's (one can argue).

        The phrase is apt and many people use it as it because even though it existed and it was in circulation, it isn't in circulation and people would look at it with suspicion.

With Olivia and John running around on this site any 'Error in Logic' (in your original post the error equates to comparing 'Apples to Oranges') will be pointed out, usually in a derogatory manner, not backed by references. Thought I would try a different approach. Doesn't seem to have worked.
          Now for the accepted approach.

          Nowhere in my above post did I say Hover was a good President. However, his failures had help. If you really look at Hover, he has more in common with Romney (big R behind their names') than either Obama or Carter.
          Did you read the links above? If you had you would have found the following in link #2.

          Your right, in alluding to FDR being a good choice in the place of Hover, maybe, the best, he is an 'Apple' after all. I chose to offer Wilson, another 'Apple' as well as; a 'Southerner' like Carter, a highly 'Educated' (idiot) like Obama and a 'Nobel Prize' winner like both Carter and Obama. More to my choice than one dimension.
          As for the 'Two Dollar' bills, they are still in circulation, I see new issue bills every year during the local county fair. As to their weirdness; yea, I personally wont keep any, however many people I deal with like them and want all I have (I sell parking at the fair). I found your link hilarious, more for the stupidity of the Best Buy associates and the absolute stupidity of the cops, both could have called a local bank branch and found out, along with the fact that most counter-fit bills are easy to spot if you know where to look, what to look for and the feel of the cloth (Yes, I've seen more than the average person. I have, in the past, worked at Fed branches, as a technician on the money sorters (CVCS machines)).

          • What the hell does being nervous after 9-11 have to do with a two dollar bill? Hell lots of people carry them as Good Luck. I gave my grandkids a couple..Sometimes police departments are their own worst enemy, and obviously, there was no test for stupidity before they were hired.

        • I've got a couple of two dollar bills sitting on my desk right now. Printed in 2003, and still in circulation. They're really not even all that unusual. I have people pay me with them fairly often. I don't get to spend them, though. My lady seems to think they're special, and collects them.

          • The fact that she thinks that proves my point. A LOT OF PEOPLE think that way, that they are special, odd, weird, queer or strange. A lot of people do not have them lying around nor asks for them at the bank nor uses them at a daily basis. Therefore most individuals will find them to be fake or question their legitimacy, hence why the phrasing is used by many. I don't see why this is a controversy and why people are giving me grief about this. I find that extremely odd. They are being issued but not in the same amounts as other bills and it is issued by banks primarily by customer request. A bank will give you five dollar bills instead of tw two dollar bills and a dollar bill if you want change for five dollars UNLESS the person asks for it.

          • But the term, "queer as a" is almost followed by "three dollar bill." Since a three dollar bill would most certainly have something strange about it.

            I used to have a handful of Bill Clinton three dollar bills. They're a gag, and I used to mess with people with them sometimes. I gave one to a kid at a local Del Taco, and he stared at it, and the cash drawer, for quite a while, trying to figure out where to put it. Then I took it back and gave him a five, to release him from his confusion. I'm not sure he ever did figure it out.

          • Not necessarily. I have heard it from US BORN people (several throughout my life) as two dollar bill. Perhaps because they do exist, but their "looks" are in question because it is a $2 bill instead of $1 and most people HAVE NOT seen one nor may have known that it was in usual and normal circulation a long time ago. It is what it is. I stand by my statement. If people want to continue to cry and moan about something that even born US people have used around me, there is really not much else that I can do about it.

          • Ok, the definitive answer. I just googled them both. Queer as a two dollar bill got 110,000 hits, three dollar bill got 315,000. Three dollar bills are more queer than two dollar bills. But obviously, the two dollar bill phrase is NOT unheard of.

          • I have several of them myself. A few customers from my old coffee shop used to bring those especially to buy their coffee from me. They're still in circulation. I've had a few kids look at em at the store, wondering if they're real. When the boss tells em to take em, he doesn't know where to put em!

          • It is my understanding that they are being issued or minted but they are not being put in circulation in the general public as other bills are. Banks have them but they circulate mainly due to customer requests only. I have never had a bank give me a $2 bill when I ask for change, but they would if I ask. Also the reaction of the people to the bill is the reason why the phrasing exists. That was the whole point.
