Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one. For recreation, I run, hike, kayak and play tennis but will not consider synchronized swimming under any circumstances.

  • As for the lack of security on the website. Obviously it wasn't a primary concern because the idea here was just to put up some sh*t so it could fail so Obama can come out next year or sooner and say he has a solution to his sh*t program: Single Payer. Eliminate all the insurance companies which ARE the reasons the website and the program is not working. It is as simple as that.

    • Your assessment is spot on, as usual. Mark Steyn has a good little write on the mess in his usual humorous style, which is in the purpose of this website as I recall reading somewhere. The link to the page follows this little excerpt presented here as a lure to get everyone to take a chuckle break reading it.

      An aside here: I have heard a number of indications that this foreigner Steyn is maybe gonna make a run at some U.S. Senate seat. I have watched him speak and read his writings for years now. I'd have to say his brand would be a welcome change to the Upper House of Congress.

        • I have it on very good authority that we won't have any more problems with Marco Rubio and (illegal) immigration. In other words, his controllers are not Hispanic and they were not pleased.

  • Just like the rest of this administration. No security measures in place any where. Benghazi is one, dealing with Iran and illegals crossing the border by the droves. The only security that might be put in place, was the NSA spying on US citizens just for the hell of it.

    Change came and we all got screwed by it. Until we the people start to hold ever last elected official accountable for their votes, deeds and actions, we are getting the government we deserve.

    • But, we are at the mercy of the LIV, who seems to be in the majority. We can't stop them from voting, it is their right, but they are being bamboozled by the left and their "get out the vote" drives.
      We were much better off when the stupid and lazy didn't vote, because they had no idea what was happening. Now, they still don't know what is happening, but they vote for whoever promises them the most stuff for the least effort, which means all they have to do to support themselves is to vote "D".

    Begging is free speech. But selling mistletoe isn't. It's OK to be a bum but not a go-getter. Good jorb, leftists, you've really ffkd this place up good. I'm starting to hope I really do live to see it all crash and burn around you, while President Tantrums (or whoever) fiddles like Nero in the ruins, sinigng about justice and fairness and reparations.I swear I'd defect to Russia if you still could.

    • This is one thing that I note as a barrier to the kind of work your way up tradition in America. Many currently weathy people started off as kids, sweeping floors, or running errands, or having a paper route. Kids sold lemonade for a few cents to earn money for a special purchase. The whole concept of work hard and get a good return has gone out the door, There are so many regulations that kids are paralyzed from anything resembling work until they are out of high school, at which time its too late for many to grasp the concept. I started babysitting at 10 or 11. I took care of a family of 4 children while mom was working when I was barely 13. Now, I wouldn't trust m kids with a high school student. Its very sad. Very sad.

    • Oh yes... this is just ridiculous. I saw the little girl and I hope she continues to keep it real. Seriously that ranger told her that she could be a mediocre piece of society all day long, but a productive one? Oh hell no, not a productive citizen! What? Absolutely ridiculous.

  • Let us put ObamaCare logic to this: the internet is only dropping the HealthCare.gov website because it's so crappy, the only thing it can do to protect itself is to reject it.
