North Carolina Looks to Remove Public EV Chargers, Probably to the Trash. If you read the entire tirade, the one thing we note is missing is the fact that people don’t want to be subsidizing electric cars, whether it’s free charging or tax credits to buy one.

Some guy was answering the question, "If you bought a Tesla in the past, was it worth it?" The answer was, he had to admit, no, it was not worth it financially. He listed the numbers and it was tens of thousands of dollars more expensive to drive his gasoline-saving Tesla, and this was only taking into account the cost of his vehicle and the cost of charging it. He ignored the huge cost of replacing the batteries down the road, which can come as soon as 20,000 miles and will cost him ten to twenty thousand dollars. But after admitting all that, he said he was still happy with his Tesla purchase, that every time he walked out of his house and saw it sitting in the driveway it made him happy. You can't fight that sort of stupidity. Many decades ago in business school they taught me it is cognitive dissonance which prevents people from admitting they have spent money foolishly. And the more money they have spent, the more they will defend their purchase.
My oldest bought a Prius when he was in college. I asked him why he had bought it "its good for the environment" as we were riding back from having breakfast one morning. So when we pulled up to a traffic light that was red, I suggested to him to hurry up and run over to the corner and hug that tree, it will do just as much for the environment as the Prius. Once I pointed out that the string of batteries cost close to 1500 to 2K per battery, were made from lithium and would be more hazardous than any combustible engine could ever be you could see the wheels turning. When he moved to TX he got rid of it and bought a Ford truck. To help out the TX environment he bought a Harley Davidson. :) I've suggested that the family now need a couple of snow mobiles there in Grand Rapids. :)
You can't do better for the environment than ride a motorcycle. It's simple physics, you're moving a lot less mass down the road. But you better be a good defensive driver and stay alert because there seem to be more and more bad drivers on the road.
You have family here in Grand Rapids?
On a bike you have to make sure that you’re always aware. I do my oldest and his family. They moved from Austin to there. Traded one liberal crazy city for another.
