Do Not Buy a New Fisker Ocean

Fisker Ocean

Do Not Buy a New Fisker Ocean. Talk about depreciation! This has to be some kind of a record. They paid almost $70,000.

We took our Ocean to our local CarMax store for an appraisal on March 29, to see how the value has been affected by the company’s woes. (Full disclosure: Edmunds is a division of CarMax.) We were presented with an offer of $21,000. That’s a depreciation of 69.6%.

Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr resigns after EV push goes bust

Hertz Buying 100,000 Teslas, Making EVs 20 Percent of Its Fleet
Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr resigns after EV push goes bust. We can’t imagine why people wouldn’t pay exorbitant prices to rent a vehicle that you spend half your vacation trying to find a charging port.

Hertz, one of the four largest car rental companies in the world, is replacing its CEO after the company reversed its bet on electric vehicle (EV) rentals over increasing costs.

Stephen Scherr will step down as Hertz Global Holdings Inc.’s chief executive officer and member of the company’s Board of Directors effective March 31, the company announced Friday. Scherr led Hertz for just over two years after spending nearly three decades at Goldman Sachs.

Scherr’s resignation comes as the car rental company struggles with the higher repair costs and low demand for EV rentals.

Electric vehicles release more toxic emissions, are worse for the environment than gas-powered cars: study

Electric vehicles release more toxic emissions, are worse for the environment than gas-powered cars: study. Let’s add mining cobalt and lithium, increased pollution due to how long these cars burn when they catch fire, and the fact they are easily totaled in an accident increasing the amount of junk cars and requiring yet more to be made as accident replacements.

Electric vehicles release more toxic particles into the atmosphere and are worse than the environment than their gas-powered counterparts, according to a resurfaced study.

The study, published by emissions data firm Emission Analytics, was released in 2022 but has attracted a wave of attention this week after being cited in a Wall Street Journal op-ed Sunday.

It found that brakes and tires on EVs release 1,850 times more particle pollution compared to modern tailpipes, which have “efficient” exhaust filters, bringing gas-powered vehicles’ emissions to new lows.

Today, most vehicle-related pollution comes from tire wear.

As heavy cars drive on light-duty tires — most often made with synthetic rubber made from crude oil and other fillers and additives — they deteriorate and release harmful chemicals into the air, according to Emission Analytics.

North Carolina city spent millions on electric buses that don’t run

North Carolina city spent millions on electric buses that don’t run. A government so stupid, it hurts. Meanwhile, California Governor Gavin Newsom is going to blow a wad on electric buses. He’s like government even more stupid.

The city of Asheville, North Carolina, shelled out millions of dollars in 2018 to add five electric buses to its fleet. Now, three of the five sit idle, and city employees are telling the cautionary tale.

In the meantime, Asheville is staring down losses from a major investment. Morriss told WLOS that each bus cost at least $616,000, and the city had to spend another $200,000 for the installation of each charger, another $118,000 every year to lease batteries for the buses, and nearly $45,500 annually in electric costs to charge them.

She also noted that maintenance costs for the electric buses have topped $250,000.

Ford CEO Admits ‘Reality Check’ When He Took Electric F-150 Truck On Road Trip

Ford CEO Admits ‘Reality Check’ When He Took Electric F-150 Truck On Road Trip. Not ready for prime time. Not to mention the nightmare this poor guy and his family had when they found out they could only tow about 70 miles before he ran out of charge.

Ford CEO – Charging has been pretty challenging

Bala (owner) -“It was really a nightmare frustration for us,” Mr. Bala told CBC News.

Bala – (owner) – It was in [the] shop for 6 months. I can’t take it to my lake cabin. I cannot take it for off-grid camping. I cannot take for even a road trip,” he added. “I can only drive in city—biggest scam of modern times.

Last month, meanwhile, Ford slashed prices on the F-150 Lightning, including a 17 percent cut for the base model

Insurance Companies Realize What Is Happening with EVs – Things Could Soon Get Expensive

Surging EV demand causing states to pause incentives

Insurance Companies Realize What Is Happening with EVs – Things Could Soon Get Expensive. Oh my, yet another problem with electric vehicles. We can’t blame them for the extraordinary costs to repair them, or how easily they’re totaled out. Toss in a shortage of charging stations, a battery range that doesn’t live up to what is advertised, and we have to ask why is anyone going for this nonsense.

Market Watch added that coverage for EVs are “anywhere from 10 percent to 135 percent” higher than the national average depending on which EV you want to insure.

While there are fewer components at risk of breaking down in an EV, the parts that do require repair or replacement are much more expensive. This is especially true if an EV’s battery pack is damaged. ConsumerAffairs found that the average cost to replace an EV battery ranges from about $4,500 to nearly $18,000.

“EV owners also face a shortage of qualified repair shops and technicians,” Market Watch reported. “The specialized training required to repair electric vehicles means fewer available options and higher charges for customers when repair needs arise. All of these factors drive up insurance costs for EV drivers.”

Scratched EV battery? Your insurer may have to junk the whole car

Tesla Model 3 batteries show impressive fire resistance despite damage from high-speed crash ...

Scratched EV battery? Your insurer may have to junk the whole car. Yet more, go woke-go broke. Now EV’s cost more to run than gasoline cars, and now the insurance is going to be higher, not to mention the environmental costs. Another joke foisted upon us by the greentards.

For many electric vehicles, there is no way to repair or assess even slightly damaged battery packs after accidents, forcing insurance companies to write off cars with few miles – leading to higher premiums and undercutting gains from going electric.

And now those battery packs are piling up in scrapyards in some countries, a previously unreported and expensive gap in what was supposed to be a “circular economy.”

“We’re buying electric cars for sustainability reasons,” said Matthew Avery, research director at automotive risk intelligence company Thatcham Research. “But an EV isn’t very sustainable if you’ve got to throw the battery away after a minor collision.”

Battery packs can cost tens of thousands of dollars and represent up to 50% of an EV’s price tag, often making it uneconomical to replace them.

EV Owner Says He Hears ‘Loud Boom’ 1 Minute After Plugging in Truck – Then Error Codes Start Popping Up. Perhaps that old song “Boom-Boom Out Go the Lights!” was about electric vehicles? This is the worst one we’ve heard so far. There are more tweets about this at the link.

Firefighters use 6K gallons of water to extinguish Tesla that ‘spontaneously’ caught fire. This must be a new feature. A car so smart, it lights itself on fire on cold days so the passengers can warm up and roast some marshmallows.

Family Towed Camper with EV Truck – It Died and Had to Be Towed to New Charger by Fuel-Powered Tow Truck

Family Towed Camper with EV Truck – It Died and Had to Be Towed to New Charger by Fuel-Powered Tow Truck. Perhaps they should put a generator in the back of the pickup or their 30′ trailer for those occasions when the public chargers don’t work. Maybe Ford should rename it the F-150 Leisurely because you’re not going anywhere fast.

Besides, it’s only 275 miles from Lincoln, NE to Ogalla, NE. Divide that by the 3 stops they made to charge up and it works out to a whopping 91.7 miles before charging is needed. What a joke.

The true cost of electric cars batteries

The true cost of electric cars batteries. It’s ridiculous, crazy, insane. stupid, moronic, idiotic. Just like Gavin Newsom’s edict to not sell gas cars in California after 2035. They can’t even keep the power grid going now.

Copper Thieves Are Cutting Electric Car Charging Cables and Stealing Them

Copper Cable

Copper Thieves Are Cutting Electric Car Charging Cables and Stealing Them. Want to charge your electric vehicle? Well, forget about it. The worse the economy gets the more copper thieves will steal.

“They actually cut it while it was charging somebody’s car,” an employee at a targeted business told Motherboard.

The Reno, Nevada area appears to be getting hit particularly hard, according to a report by the local ABC affiliate KOLO. Three local charging stations were robbed recently, including one at a hotel and another at a mall.

EV Charging Station

US will need to build 478 EV charging ports EVERY DAY for the next eight years at a cost of $35B to meet demand for 1.2M public ports by 2030 (And that’s not counting the 28M needed in homes!) And this doesn’t include the cost of increasing the power grid dramatically. California can’t keep the power on now during times of high demand.

America would have to install 30 million electronic vehicle charging ports by 2030 if half of drivers switch to EVs by the time California‘s ban on gas cars takes effect.

If half of all vehicles sold are zero-emission by 2030, the country would need 1.2 million public chargers and 28 million private chargers by that year – which a McKinsey report claims would cost more than $35 billion over eight years.

California to implement its ban on new internal combustion cars by 2035

Minimizing Range Anxiety with your electric car

California to implement its ban on new internal combustion cars by 2035. The Green Power nutsacks can’t keep the power on but they want millions of cars charging off the power grid.  California wants to ban everything but idiot Democrats, criminals, homeless, drug users and illegal aliens.

Electric Cars Are Now Being Targeted For Overloading The Electric Grids During An Energy Crisis

Red Tesla

Electric Cars Are Now Being Targeted For Overloading The Electric Grids During An Energy Crisis. Go woke and your battery will choke.

The alert comes as the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) called on residents to conserve energy. They have asked the state’s residents to refrain from using electricity from appliances and more to stop the grid from being pushed to near-emergency conditions.

Tesla stepped up to help the state with a new in-car alert to owners in the state, encouraging them not to charge during peak hours.

“A heat wave is expected to impact the grid in Texas over the next few days. The grid operator recommends to avoid charging during peak hours between 3 pm and 8 pm, if possible, to help statewide efforts to manage demand”, an in-car alert sent to Tesla owners reads, as reported by Electrek.

North Carolina Looks to Remove Public EV Chargers, Probably to the Trash

EV Chargers

North Carolina Looks to Remove Public EV Chargers, Probably to the Trash. If you read the entire tirade, the one thing we note is missing is the fact that people don’t want to be subsidizing electric cars, whether it’s free charging or tax credits to buy one.

Democrats Don’t Want You To Know How Much Fossil Fuel It Takes To Power Electric Cars

Democrats Don’t Want You To Know How Much Fossil Fuel It Takes To Power Electric Cars. Biden gives another win to China and another screw job to Americans.  When is Hunter Biden getting his next check from CCP Xi?

In reality, one of Tesla’s Supercharger stations was reported to get 13 percent of their energy from natural gas and 27 percent from coal. Power plants burn coal to generate electricity to power electric cars and emit a higher fossil fuel footprint than the left would care to admit.

By increasing our use of electric cars, the United States will require more lithium batteries and will further rely on China to sustain our supply. While the current energy crisis could be an opportunity for America to increase our energy independence, the current administration refuses to take advantage.

Those Electric Cars Biden Wants You to Buy? Many Are Made with Russian Aluminum

Those Electric Cars Biden Wants You to Buy? Many Are Made with Russian Aluminum.  Well, here we go with yet another Biden-created clusterfark.

Turns out, the U.S. doesn’t only rely on Russia for oil imports — it relies on Russia for materials used to make EVs as well.

CNBC reported this week that EV maker Tesla, which is owned by dissident billionaire Elon Musk, has procured materials such as aluminum from a Russian metals giant that was once sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department.
