NOW CNN WEIGHS IN: IS TED CRUZ ELIGIBLE TO BE PRESIDENT? Both Obama and Cruz have mother’s that were US Citizens and fathers who were not. We consider Obama’s birth certificate to be dubious at best, we assume Cruz’s is available to see. At least we know where Cruz was born, we’re not certain about Obama. Obama’s school records are sealed, we assume Cruz’s are or will be made available. It’s interesting how Obama’s situation is perfectly OK with the same MSM that’s already starting to excoriate Cruz. This seems to tell us that what unnerves liberals is a strong Tea-Party type and not the RINOs that Karl Rove wants to run.

  • Yep, I needed a certified copy of my birth certificate before they would let me join the United States Navy. I wrote to Topeka, and 3 days later, I had a copy. Wasn't hard at all. Of course, what Cruz should do is to stand up and announce why he is ineligible to be President, then point out that its the same reason that Obama is ineligible. Then publicly demand his resignation. Cruz certainly has the stones to do it.

      • You know, when people accuse me of racism for disagreeing with Obama, and it happens all the time, I just list all the black men and women that I would be happy to vote for. It's really sad that our first black President turned out to be such a POS.

        • It was an experiment. He embodies the Big Society. The powers that be wanted to demonstrate that it worked in the form of Obama over of course to say it was a mere failed experiment is to minimize the actual result.

        • There are a lot of black people who would be good, Allen West is one I really like, but again why do we have to keep judging on the basis of race? Elect the best damn one we can find..Personally I don't give a crap if that person is painted green and wearing a pair of bib overalls..as long as it ain't a libturd and that person cares about the people, the constitution and doing whats right, instead of what the looney lefties and their insane friends want. Offer liberals free overseas vacations to exciting places like Iran, and then don't let them return....I think the taxpayers would go for that..

          • And the taxpayers are the ones that should be making the decisions. As far as I'm concerned, those on assistance should be eliminated from the voter list.

          • Originally the Founding Fathers set it up where only property owners could vote. Detail many have forgotten or never knew. Just like they set term limits originally.

          • Could be the left knew about the property owner stipulation, and was afraid that it might be enforced again. That could explain why they were forcing banks to make mortgages available to people that couldn't afford them ie the low info voters and welfare recipients.

    • Now look how easy that was. People start speculating et voila! He digs out his birth certificate in less than 72 hours. If Obama had done that, there wouldn't have been such a fuss. Obama made it all waaaay too complicated. I mean, I have a certified copy of my birth certificate inmy office files. Doesnthe?

      • I have birth certificate of my country of birth as well in my personal files. If not it wouldn't really be that difficult to get it even though I am in a completely different country. It is refreshing to see that Cruz had the integrity to just do what he had to do. The reason Obama didn't do it is because he lacks integrity. He wanted to make the other side look crazy with their incessant asking for it, he is a calculating bastard.

  • Cruz most likely isn't a closet Muslim, so I'd vote for him over Obama just on that single point.

  • Remember, Obama admits to smoking everything under the sun at Occidental College. Plus, his grades were sealed because they, by all reports, were failing. Which raises the question, how did he get into Columbia or even Harvard? On a second note, has anyone seen Mrs. Obama's Princeton's thesis? Again, by all accounts, it was a grammatical and intellectual travesty placed on paper.

    • Once some of Obama's college writing was the subject of a thread here. From that writing it was obvious that he had much help in writing his books. Some even suggest William Ayres was the ghostwriter for the first book. It's really nothing to be ashamed of to admit one had a co-author or an editor for a book, most human beings aren't experts in grammar and punctuation. But in Obama's case so much was put into making him the modern Shakespeare/David/Add your favorite writer/ of writing. The myth was being built in those days.

      • It's something when your ghostwriter writes more fiction about you than Robert A. Heinlein wrote in his entire career as a sifi author. At least, Heinlein didn't believe his own baloney like the current Occupooper-In-Chief believes his.

  • Cruz has to be more qualified then Quagmire, his history hasn't been sealed by a shitload of lawyers.

  • Well the Canal Zone was considered an extension of the USA regardless of Panamenians liking that or not so we can put Mccan't aside. Romney well they did reside in the US they were just not residing at the time so I don't know in that score. If indeed as JP states that there are some narrow requirements in my humble opinion Obama SHOULD HAVE NEVER been President and Ted Cruz then should not be President, but now that Obama IS President REGARDLESS then why can't Ted Cruz?

  • I love Cruz, but I don't see how anybody can say he is eligible to be president. And I am disappointed that he is already conflating citizenship with being a natural born citizen.

    We know you're a citizen, Ted. The question is whether you are eligible to be president and the meaning of the term "natural born citizen" when the Constitution was written was that both parents had to be citizens AND have resided in the United States. Your father fails on both counts. Sorry, but you are ineligible.

    Everybody is relying on a recent study by congressional staffers produced for the benefit of making sure Obama and McCain were considered eligible. That's what everybody refers to. Sorry, but congressional staffers do not make law, so their opinion that only one parent needs to be a U.S. citizen is worthless.

    • Totally agree, JP, I like Cruz and he'd make a great nominee for Secretary of State, or Secretary of The Interior...not POTUS material by a long shot.

      • He's invaluable right where he is, as just about the only damn congresscritter we have willing to speak the truth.

      • Me too, me too! Unfortunately precedent is tough to reverse. Cruz is just as qualified as Obama - according to the Constitution - to be POTUS. Not qualified at all, but the Constitution doesn't get up out of it's little box at night and slap people around. It's the little box connected to the cable that slaps people around. "They did it too", becomes the law of the land.

        • And therein lies the problem.
          There is a precedent set by Obama for eligibility, but the same terms will be used to disqualify Cruz.
          I feel that if he doesn't meet the standard, he should not run, but then Obama should be run out of town.

          • Of course the question of Cruz running for POTUS is not really an issue. He is a first termSenator and I doubt he'stupid enought to try and run soon anyway. They are trying to be proactive but they are mostly just paranoid

  • The leftists will always tell you who they fear. The feared Palin, they fear Cruz.

    We have to admit that the left has total control over the media and they are not afraid to use that control.

    • Getting folks to see that and make reverse conclusions based on the narrative so as to make that media monopolization backfire on the left. Most folks are effectively addicted to their teevees so getting any sort of boycott going would be pointless.

  • Pretty damned selective on whose past they scrutinize -eh? Question the messiah and you get smeared as a "birther" but suddenly it becomes a concern of Constitutionality when a particular candidate is being focused on. I expect that the particulars of his birth location will be carried in all the narrative about his candidacy until he is no longer considered a viable electable.
