When you put progressives in charge of anything, they abuse power & go around the law all the time. This started out with Wilson, & it's really been happening ever since. But nobody who has become part of the political arena has stepped up to dismantle the tools that allow gov't to abuse it's power. I'm afraid none of the GOP canditdates will be willing to really do that.
The GOP started out being about abolition. Today's GOP needs to become the abolitionist party. What do I mean? Someone needs to get elected, then step up & abolish the following...
Dept of Education
Dept of Energy
EPA
IRS - complete overhaul of tax system
Dept of Ag
...there are others, too many to think of off the top of my head. Republicans were abolitionists back in the days of slavery. They were about freedom. Getting rid of oversized, all powerful agencies that abuse power would be a move for more freedom.
