New York Times says Congresswomen don’t have sex scandals, ignores widely-known liberal case
According to the New York Times, women in Congress just don’t get involved in sex scandals:
“I’m telling you,” said Representative Candice Miller, a Michigan Republican, “every time one of these sex scandals goes, we just look at each other, like, ‘What is it with these guys? Don’t they think they’re going to get caught?’”
Republican Candice Miller is unlikely to get involved in a sex scandal. Very few men want to sleep with a woman who looks like the Quaker Oats guy.
Ms. Miller’s question raises an intriguing point: Female politicians rarely get caught up in sex scandals. Women in elective office have not, for instance, blubbered about Argentine soul mates (see: Sanford, Mark); been captured on federal wiretaps arranging to meet high-priced call girls (Spitzer, Eliot); resigned in disgrace after their parents paid $96,000 to a paramour’s spouse (Ensign, John) or, as in the case of Mr. Weiner, blasted lewd self-portraits into cyberspace.
…But there may be something else at work: Research points to a substantial gender gap in the way women and men approach running for office. Women have different reasons for running, are more reluctant to do so and, because there are so few of them in politics, are acutely aware of the scrutiny they draw — all of which seems to lead to differences in the way they handle their jobs once elected.
All this is, of course, nonsense. It completely ignores the case of one current Southern California Congresswoman who is widely rumored to have bedded half the officers in the Pentagon.
She is, of course, a liberal Democrat, so the New York Times, Washington Post, Politico, Huffington Post, Media Matters and Daily Kos choose to ignore her indiscretions.
Why?
Because if she were a Republican her actions would threaten the very institutions of Democracy. But since she’s a Democrat it’s just a personal matter.

Just keep the upkeep and you should be fine and RHG is probably right as well that she wasn't taking care of herself before she got elected. Most Republican congresswomen tend to be the best looking women in Congress.

I had to confirm, so I Googled - I forgot that the guy was married with 8 kids. What a ho. Both of them.

Anybody ever think of judging this woman on her voting record? Moral values? Charitable donations? Work ethic? What kind of person is she? No, everyone takes potshots cuz she doesn't fit the mold. I don't find her attractive either, but that's a VERY petty way evaluate a person.

Upon entering an art gallery recently, I was struck by the ugliness of a work hung just inside the door. While ranting about how terrible a piece this was, the curator happened by so I queried, "Is this the sort of monstrosity the NEA funds with tax dollars; these repulsive, repugnant and hideous 'works of art' that turn one's stomach to even glance at?"
"No," replied the curator, "that's a mirror."
Good one, Ruben. I am often struck by the lack of physical beauty I see in the mirror.
I hear you. I agree that she needs to be evaluated by who she is as a person and her work. However she is a Republican and perhaps a conservative, yet I am still given her the same treatment I would a liberal congresswoman that looks like a man and is not taking care of her appearance. Her work maybe great and fantastic, but she is A REPRESENTATIVE of the people. Image is not everything, but it is a very important part of whatever work that we do. It is not difficult. Michelle Bachmann can do it and the lady that got shot I am sorry I don't remember her name she could do it too and so many others.
If she is going to place herself in such a position of leadership she has to look appropriately. A woman can be WOMANLY and BEAUTIFUL (as per her OWN beauty) while still be professional and CAPABLE in her job position. She maybe a wonderful person, but she needs to work on her appearance. It is very difficult to take her seriously and we all know how men are. Men are visual. I am willing to make a study where if Michelle Bachmann comes into a room and ask for 10 things she will get more things than this lady would, even if she asks for the same 10 things. It is harsh, but so is life. She doesn't have to loose the weight, but she can do a lot to improve her appearance. I can say right now that if you were to vote between her and Bachmann (and they are both EQUALLY qualified), you would vote for Bachmann and you wouldn't even think about the reasons why.
I am just sick and tired of women stripping their feminity from them because they get into positions that traditionally goes to men. I find these women to be mostly militant feminists.
It is true that because there are less women in office and women tend to be more aware of their behavior OR they can be more discreet about their behavior that there aren't a lot of scandals of sexual nature for females, however if she (the liberal congresswoman) has this going on and they didn't take the time to denote an exception it does show media bias.
As for the lady in the photo OMG. I am so sorry but I had to laugh. She needs a friend.

I am not sure about this claim. I know for a fact that Nancy Pelosi, Maria Cantwell, and Patty Murray have all screwed thousands of us, over and over and over.
Yeah, but they're not hearing us complain loudly enough for them to stop! We may have to make our complaints heard and felt up close and psersonal!
