Oakland Police Dept. too busy to respond to all calls

• Hahahahaha. This is just too funny. Were I a cop in Oakland and the call came out that there was a big gang banger riot destroying the downtown my first response would be the the waitress, "I'll have another doughnut please. What? They're still in the oven. No problem. I'll wait."

• Oakland is not the only city like that, Stockton is very close and so is Sacramento. It's a joy to go to a call for service that has been waiting for 16 plus hours, you can imagine how people are angry, I just redirect them to city hall which caused this frickin mess in the first place. On average in Stockton and Sacramento each officer does about 10 to 15 calls for service and or reports every day. We used to be proactive and actually be able to stop crime, not any more.

  Stockton Lost over 120 officers, Oakland I believe about 200 and Sacramento almost 100, The Sacramento County Sheriffs Office lost about 200 deputies. You live in the sticks, you need to be well armed, Now that also applies in the city. And Stockton is looking at Bankruptcy because they have a ballpark,arena, theater, marina, and a NEW city hall (that's suppose to pay for itself but only has minimal occupancy) and the loose a combined 10 million a year. Somehow that became the police department's fault. They have an Asparagus festival every year to raise money for charity, the police departments budget for overtime is $400,000 for the festival and the festival folks pay next to nothing. In Sacramento they are having a gay old time with plans for their new area, about 200 million, but they just decided to stop picking up leaves off the streets cause it's too expensive....Kalifornia has the dumbest politicians in the country next to Obutthead and company..

  Best advice, BUY a gun, buy ammo, learn to shoot. Unless in Stockton you can always call the ballpark for help, or in Sacramento you can call the new basketball arena.

  • And don't forget Sacramento County Probation Dept: they lost around 250-300, had to close two detention facilities and let many criminals in training back out in the streets. They have a juvenile hall that they can't fully staff so many units sit empty.

• I'm sure glad that the Sheriff in the county I live in approved my CCW app. 2 weeks ago. With everything going on now in this country (lack of LE manpower, the Zimmerman case, the race baiters and Black Panthers stirring the pot, Obama's antics and Marxist governing), I have no other recourse than to carry concealed. I recommend any Kalifornian that wants to be and feel safe to get training and a CCW permit. Depending on the county you live in will depend on how fast you can complete the permit process. By the time I have the actual permit in my hand, it will have been a 10-12 month process.

  • It might go faster in Orange County, the bastard stepchild of Communifornia. I'd move there, apply for CCW, and then move back to where I was.

  Some of those things, like burglaries, I can see as not being an emergency if they have happened already. But traffic accidents involving an injury????

  • Based upon this, they should declare anyone living in or visiting Oakland can carry concealed weapons 24 x 7 without a permit.
