Thus the Second Amendment. We can't be every where all the time. Take responsibility for your own protection and be ready to defend yourself. During a trail, I heard the best response to a lame ass prosecutors question. "Why did you not jus wound him?" Answer "I'd rather be were I'm at today than were he is out" BTW, not guilty. Self defense and justifiable homicide.
If police officers (correct me if I am wrong) are trained to shoot mass center, why are lay people EXPECTED to be such gun experts that we have to shoot to wound? You now what I mean? The professionals are expected to shoot to kill, wounding happens if it happens but that is not the expectation correct? So why are lay people expected to wound and not to kill? I don't get it.
We are trained to shoot center mass. Any person that is trying to tell you that you need to just wound the person while you are taking a concealed carry class, you need to ask for your money back. It's a proving fact. The first few shots are the most accurate ones. After that, the adrenal has kicked in. The pattern becomes like a cat spraying the bushes, every where.
Something to always remember there are three things that you do with a weapon and that is it.
You bring it out to use it
You treat every last one as if it is loaded.
Never ever point it anything that you are not prepared to destroy.

The issue here is that if someone uses it for true self defense no attorney should ever ask the stupid ass question: "Why didnt you wound him?" da hell gtfo would be my answer

You never 'shoot to kill,' that will get you in a heap of trouble. You shoot to stop.
To me that is the same thing. If you are shooting center mass you are aiming at major organs. I don't want an attacker to have the chance to reach for a gun or a weapon. It is what it is.
Or get up and come after me. I want the incident to stop once I fire.
Not to overenthusiastic cops or a DA. They hear shoot to stop = self defense, if they hear shoot to kill = murder.

My older brother is a patrol sgt. not too far from here in a relatively big area (pop. 51,000 +-), and I asked him once a long time ago what worried him most on the job (fear, scared are the wrong words in the context we were talking).
He said besides the usual things that are always in the back of your mind somewhere like what I meant, what he thought about was having to pull his weapon; not that he was afraid but he said, "once I make the decision to do that, all the rules change. And more often than not some victim is either already very hurt, or somebody else is about to be."

I carry a gun because carrying a cop just got far too inconvenient. Besides, the Supreme Court has ruled, quite a while ago, that the police are NOT required to protect people.
There maybe a time when the people have to protect themselves from those cops who are murderous, thuggish, rapists etc. It doesn't happen a lot but it does happen. Or protect from a murderous, thuggish, rapist government or religious factions that wish to establish their religion as a government... that is why the Second Amendment exist and that is not a loony thought.

Exactly. It was designed so the populace could protect themselves from criminals, including, but not limited to govrrnment agentd.
Sadly people who have a healthy fear of government intrusion and oppression (because you know... it HAS happened in the past like a lot) are seen as crazy... probably by those that WISH they could intrude and oppress others through government.
