You know the city manager of Bell California just got 12 years in prison for running his city into the ground and they get no bailout..why should Detroit? Jail those responsible and take THEIR money. Why the hell should the rest of the country pay for the stupidity of democrats? Detroit is NOT to big to fail..let it go, give to to Canada or encourage it to become Detroitistan....And put a fence around it.
As a West Michigander I've been propping up that shithole my whole adult life. They got the population over there in southeast Michigan so they always have the votes in the state legislature. Money flows out of West Michigan - where people work for a living and vote Republican - into the state treasury and from there into the shithole where they, of course, vote Democrat. Notice in the linked article that the governor is promising Detroit $350 million from the state - MORE of my money for the shithole. It's an endless drain on good Americans, and now that the rest of the country is joining in propping up the shithole I have a hard time feeling sorry for you.
JP--sounds a lot like California, except you have the Progressive enclaves of LA to the south and SF to the north who override (and have now overtaken) the rest of what should be (or at least once was) a mostly conservative populace. That's one of the reasons I am glad I got out four years ago--ain't no "Bullet Train" boondoggle coming to AZ any time soon.
Detroit could help itself by hiring out its empty space to Government Motors to park the many cars they need to recall.
And store all those Volts they can't sell.
To not bail out Detroit would be racist.
Whatever, it's just a stopgap to keep the rubes voting Democrook for the next election. That's all politicians ever do, short term "fixes" to keep the game going another couple of years.
I thought we were the rubes, and the "big city" folks were the "smart" ones! Looks like that theory is shot to hell!
They are buying those votes with OUR tax money, so no whatever.
