I think the social issues agenda is a tool in destroying conservatives, libertarians, and freedom loving Americans. Divide and conquer... likely hoping that some "gun clinger" snaps and attacks a gay or gay establishment- furnishing "proof" of conservatism being synonymous with hate. The bonus for them would be if a gun were to be used- revive the "national conversation" about gun violence in pursuit of the confiscation of the second amendment.
