What was that about a "war on women???" Marry as many as you want. Slap em around a bit so they stay in line. Isn't that how Barry's fellow Muslims do, and the Democrats love muslims and vice versa.

I'm gonna have to call you on that. That's pure unadulterated bullshit. If someone is sexually abusing their child, the government has no role? A man is beating his wife? Your next door neighbor builds an extension on his garage out of cardboard and starts cooking meth in it? You take the family bowling and there's a couple of fat nudists bowling without clothes?
With the exception of criminal activity, I actually wish the gov't would stay out of everyone's personal life. The stuff you mentioned is already illegal, as well as polygamy, but too many in gov't, like religious conservatives & progressives are only too eager to use the power of gov't where it does not belong.

Things that will hurt physically and mentally a person are in essence already criminal acts and should be prosecuted with the full extent of the law.
However, when it comes to adults in full control of their mental and physical faculties not sure the government needs to get involved even if I personally have a problem with the activities that the people are getting themselves into.
As long as I am not being "asked" strongly to participate with their activities, I can live my life and they can live theirs.
An adult male buying a child from his or her parents for "marriage" is immoral, dangerous to the mental and physical well being of the child and it is and should always be a crime. As the child is not in full control of his or her mental and physical faculties to make a well informed and well rounded decision to "marry" an adult male, the child should be protected from this activity and if the child could not be protected by the community and the police/governmental forces then the parents and the male should be made to pay for their actions by the law and the condemnation of the society in general. Also the purchase of people is and should be considered illegal as human beings are not to be property of other human beings, not even to pay a debt back, since in today's society there are so many moral and legal options to do so.
This is common sense and part of the (true) fabric of our nation and our culture and laws.
However if an adult male wants to marry another adult male and they are both mentally and physically able to make all the decisions that requires such an action, I seriously don't see the need to run to the government for "permission". In fact, I don't see why heterosexual pairs need to ask the government for "permission". Not even for that "tax purposes" as that is a terrible trap. There are things called wills and power of attorneys to ensure that property goes to the person that it is supposed to go to. The government should have to do very little with such matters.
Even if I personally don't agree, and I don't have to agree, with homosexuality (and etcs) and same gender marriage, they can do whatever the hell they want. As long as the government is not used to strongly "ask" me to participate even if I am in a public square or business, I am good (even if I don't morally/religiously agree) with their decision to live their lives the want they want to.
For the record: Don't agree with polygamy. All I have to do is read the Bible and find that polygamy causes intra familial chaos that could have easily avoided if the man (whoever he was) would have just been satisfied with one spiritual wife. I know the culture behind it and how in some cases it was good for the woman to have a marriage even if polygamous in order to save her from prostitution, destitution/poverty, etc. However in today's cultures polygamy is now just a demonstration of selfishness and chaos. However, if all adults agree it is what it is. The only issue is of course that it does affect children, BUT if the children are free to grow up and form their own family structures that are away from polygamy if they so wish to, then that is good, they just need to survive the chaos.

We don't allow people to marry close relatives because we, as a society, don't want the expense and tragedy of the resulting birth defects. The same argument can be made for not allowing gay marriages. The health repercussions are extremely bad and not limited to the couple in question. Ask the hemophiliac community about the repercussions of homosexual relationships.
Close relatives marrying is just disgusting and highly unnecessary in today's world. Usually that happens due to abuse of some kind. So this is why the law has to be flexible about situations. Since the health of children is at question here I can see why this would not be allowed.
I know that at a time Blacks (not related to one another) were not allowed to be married, but many jumped the broom anyway and as far as their community and society respected this agreement, no one needed to go to the government for permission to be married. Even if the government didn't recognize the marriage the society and community did and that is all that it matters.
Once the government decided to recognize marriage between Blacks, that was all nice and good, but that was a method of control in the end. Governments should not have had any say whatsoever. That is to say it should have not have said that Blacks were not people in the first place and that they cannot be married to one another and later one married to others who were not Blacks. That exceeded government authority over human beings who were adults, etc.
Of course if Blacks were abusing children in any way vis a vis marriage, then of course there is need for governmental action if the community is not doing what it is supposed to do: protect those who are innocent.
Not equating homosexuals to Blacks being enslaved and so on just making a point that governmental controls are not always quite just...
Thankfully we live in a society where with better testing and education responsible homosexuals do not have to be typhoid mary's. In fact, we have MUCH to worry about down low brothas and closeted homosexuals than homosexuals who live their lives in the open AND wish to form monogamous relationships with one another (as adults, etc).
It is the down lo and the closeted gays that we need to fear as they do spread diseases and so on and so forth. I think that a gay man seeking to enter into a monogamous relationship with another gay man (I am not going to call it marriage because I think that is an exclusive word for religious communities), I applaud that over the heterosexual male who has sex with multiple females, have many children with many females, leads an irresponsible life or worst a man who lives an heterosexual lifestyle in the open but it is bisexual or gay in secret, sleeps with guys on the down lo and then goes home and sleeps with his wife (or multiple females).
He marries females but have sex with males, keeps it quiet infects communities. Disgusting. If he likes males, maybe he should just engage himself into a monogamous relatiionship with another gay man, have their union celebrated by their community and live with him in a healthy and proper manner, unless he is a nasty ho and marriage is not going to change him one bit no matter if he "marries" a gay man.
I guess what I am saying is that perhaps adults should be allowed to make decisions on their own lives without TOO much governmental control as we have seen in the past it has not always been fair nor just. Although of course there are situations that do merit government intervention. We can definitely agree with that.
Those things are illegal, but they are also part of an adult's personal life. I consider myself a libertarian but I think a society has a right to protect it's own health and safety. Here's a less obvious example: does a society have the right to disallow consanguineous marriages? I say yes. A pure libertarian would say no but there are repercussions to letting people do whatever they want in their "personal life." The Muslim community is full of birth defects and crazy people because it allows so many consanguineous marriages.
States, even cities should have basic rights in these areas. If a town or state majority wants to make strict laws that you don't like, move. If a state gets to liberal, move. It may be inconvenient but it beats a liberal or conservative government telling everyone how to live. The problem with this is that extreme liberals still don't get their way even in the most liberal states and whine to the liberal courts until they do.
