Obama makes Thunderbirds wait so he can attend fundraiser. Class, all class. After giving a commencement speech to Air Force Academy graduates, the president made the Thunderbirds stop their show midstream so he could leave and get to a Denver fundraiser. God knows how much fuel it wasted having F-16s buzzing around aimlessly for a half hour.

As a grad and father of a grad of USAFA, I can tell you that this is unprecedented. There is a rotation of POTUS, VPOTUS, and SECDEF to speak at the graduations of the service academies. At USAFA, it is traditional that that the Thunderbirds start their show immediately after the presiding officer says, "You are dismissed." The show is pretty standard and is a highlight of the graduation ceremony. It is not uncommon for the speaker to leave right after the ceremony, but I have never heard of them closing the airspace so they can slip out early. The fact that his staff wouldn't schedule the fundraiser 1/2 hour later is a clear demonstration of this administration's priorities. Sad.
Especially because Dnever is truly a hop, skip and a jump fomr the AF academy. When I lived in C Springs, the Academy was about 30 min noth of town (yes, I am THAT old!) Not eh Academy is the north side of town! Denver is what a couple hours drive, maybe 30 min by air?
When I was in the AF (early 80's), I was in Denver (Aurora) for tech school at Lowry AFB, which is now an "Urban Community" http://www.lowry.org/
I never made it to the Springs because I didn't have a car at the time.
It does seem to me however that "the one" could have waited a few minutes and watched the airshow. The Thunderbirds are an amazing team, and he should be proud of them. I'm sure the fundraiser would have waited until he got there.

The thought occured to me last night. I'll bet after this election if/when Obama is voted out, a politician(probably a politian on the left side of things) will propose a bill that all current service members while under contract can no longer vote, citing a conflict of interest to the Commander in Chief.
It seems ridiculous, but nothing is too low for the the Party of Rats. Especially if their dear One loses in November.

He went to the Air Force Academy so his trip to Colorado could be listed as official that way his campaign only had to pay for the fuel from Colorado Springs to Denver instead of DC to Denver. It's just another way oba MAO and his re-election team are sticking the taxpayers with his campaign bills.
He was probably worried that they were armed and might not be too happy with him!
