Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages.   • At a White House women's conference today, Good Friday, Obama defended Planned Parenthood which is the largest provider of abortions in the United States at about 300,000 plus per year. Some Christian. He also falsely proclaimed that Planned Parenthood does mammograms. Planned Parenthood does not do mammograms and so his untrue statement is breaking all over the Internet.

        • regardless of what one thinks about Obama profaning Reagan's good name, I still can't help but think ole Dutch might struggle through the primaries of today's Republican party, just like Romney and McCain.. Consider the policies: amnesty, compromise over taxes, large deficit spending, negotiations with evil empires and reduction in nuclear arsenal

          Reagan was a happy warrior and I'm seeing a lot less of that in Republicans nowadays

          • That is all true, he did things he shouldn't have and so on and so forth but he has something that Romney doesn't have: guts and seriously good ability to give liberals an education. I have seen the videos he schooled them. I think that Reagan would have done just fine. If anything just on what he could do with Obama et al would be worth my vote.

          • No, Reagan wasn't perfect. He DID make mistakes. But a lot of it was pressed on him by a Democrat Congress. What I was constantly pleading for him to do was to veto everything, forcing Congress to overrule him. Then we would all know exactly where the blame belonged.

  • When I think of Obama and his struggles, I think of Easter too, but in a different context. My dad is a carpenter and cabinetmaker, and he's also a bit of a salvager. When I was a kid, he acquired vast quantities of salvaged redwood, which he eventually repurposed into a deck, but for years that redwood was stacked in our backyard like skyscrapers. Because it was the 70s and 80s and the world wasn't foam-padded, my little brother and I used to play on and around those stacks of wood.

    Anyway, after each Easter we'd take the eggs that remained after we'd had all the hardboiled eggs we could stand, and after they'd stayed in the fridge long enough to start smelling a bit, and we'd go out to the redwood stacks and heave them as hard as we could to watch them explode.

    So that's what Obama reminds me of: hucking rotten eggs.

  • The Easter story? More like the Alice in Wonderland and the rabbit. He's late! He's late! So much left to ruin and he's only got a few months left!
