Occupy protesters seek to shut West Coast ports. Great, so now the pampered pratts are going to try and starve America into submitting to their demands. Demands that can pretty much be summed up as handouts for these coddled brats that require we producers live far below our means so the greedy Flea Baggers can live far beyond their own. Expect this protest to fizzle out once it is realized -by the Whiney-Whine Percent- that shutting off the ports might make it difficult for them to get new Mac Books or items from LL Beans’s bohemian-bourgeois collection. BTW, we just can’t wait until these OWS types come across some real members of the working class sometimes known as longshoremen.

Unfortunately, the container ports are all run by the ILA (Int'l Longshoremans Assn) which is part of the AFL-CIO. If you think the union goons at these ports give a crap about not having to work for a day, you're nuts! If the port gets shut down for safety reasons, they still get their days pay because they showed up!
The ones getting screwed are the truckers. For many of the independents, losing a days pay could mean the difference between eating and losing their truck! If the terminals shut down because of this, they should be responsible for the demurrage, not the drivers. The drivers showed up to get their loads, they just couldn't take delivery through no fault of their own.
Best thing that could happen is to stuff a few containers full of OWSers, and ship them to China with a made in the USA sticker on their forehead...If we are lucky a storm will toss the containers overboard and problem is solved.
Maybe the shippers will wise up and send their stuff to west coast ports not in Kookafornia. Sure it will raise the price of products in Kookafornia, but I dont think they would care. It's for the greater good.
Oh yeah, this is the day the Fleabaggers bring CAPITALISM tumbling down. Wonder if those fatheads know that there are huge seaports in the Gulf of Mexico and the East Coast too? Haha, I'd like to see them try to ffkk over the longshoremen in Houston.

I live in the area. Per the news this AM, the port was already clogged up with OWS morons at 6AM when I got up and turned the TV on.
The longshoremen are pretty much on their side and aren't going to do anything. They had a clusterf**k this morning over this and finally declared the entrances to some of the piers unsafe and took the day off, AKA they looked the other way.
Tomorrow and probably for the next few days at least, they'll be all making big overtime trying to catch up for the missed work today. So why should they care?
The truckers are the ones who got screwed. The steamship lines don't give a rats butt why the container is late and they'll be charging the truckers up the wazoo for late containers (called demurrage if you want to be technical). Many of them are independent, get no sick or vacation time and basically got screwed out of a days' wage today + they'll be paying late fees. They're already in hock because the state loons made them all buy cleaner diesel trucks or have theirs modified at high price or not be able to haul from the port, this could put some of them out of business, something the OWS boneheads care less about.
OPD ain't gonna do shit either. The mayor can't make her mind up if she's coming or going or if she wants to be management or labor. There's already 2 recalls in progress.
I listened to a local talk show this morning with this as the topic. The OWS retards were calling in and basically saying the don't give a rats butt if the port and the truckers lose money because it's for the greater good (a term heard a few times).
One OWS retard was asked if he's pony up and pay a trucker $100-$400 for a late container and lost wages. The guy minced around and beat the bush and tried to change the subject, but the host pushed it and he finally admitted that if he had the money he'd pay. Which is saying in so many words that they don't care if it cost anyone else because they're deadbeats with no money and this doesn't affect them one bit.
It's too bad most of them can't get up at 6AM to be at work.
The truckers hauling containers out of the ports are not getting paid well to begin with. A few days of this kind of crap could cost some of them their livelihoods. Way to go, whiney-whiners.
