There's one aspect of this story that should piss everyone off.
Cops can carry their guns into a bar. I cannot.....I haven't been in a bar in a decade, but if I were to go in one-I am a sitting duck-because only cops can go into establishments who derive 50% or more of their revenue from alcohol.
Moral of the story-those folks got really lucky there was an off duty cop there, cause everyone else had to leave their heater in the car.
The legislators in Illinoistan have made it so that those of us who are trained, licensed, and adept with handguns are still sitting ducks most of the time. It's sick-and it all revolves around their desire to disarm the public.
If they have mass shootings(which all happen in gun free zones-or as we call them Kill-Boxes), they can lobby for disarmament of the citizenry.
I can't take my piece to the fireworks with my family, a parade, hospital, bar/restaurant, government building......
Where do mass shootings happen? Bars, gov't buildings, large public gatherings, and schools.....each place, everyone in attendance who is a law abiding citizen is a sitting duck.....when was the last time a bad guy saw a no guns sign and left his piece in the car?
That's what the communist want. Checkout what the founders said about an armed populace, not just the Bill of Rights.
So . . . the cop did the panda thing: eats, shoots, and leaves?
It's the only way... :)
As it should be, a good guy with a gun.........Plus the cost to taxpayers is nil.....
