The interesting thing to watch (when the time comes) will be how many people stay home on Election Day. Many who voted for him would never vote for Romney, but the excitement level they had for Obama last time has converted to disappointment. These are the people who will simply not vote.
In 2007, there was a mayor's race in Indianapolis. There was a Democratic incumbent running for his third term but he pissed off everyone, to include his base. One lifelong Democrat told me she never voted for so many people with L behind their names, in her life. She wouldn't vote R for anything, but she damned sure wasn't going to vote for the Ds either. Others told me they just didn't vote. The GOP won the mayor's seat and the council swung from solid Dem to 3/4 GOP.
Last year, the council went back to the D side. But the mayor won support from Dems and the GOP to win a second term.
This year, 95% of blacks (who are widely against gay marriage) may end up voting for Obama. But how many will stay home, especially in key states? How many hardcore progressives who feel betrayed by the President not closing Gitmo, not getting single-payer healthcare, and other broken leftist promises, will stay home? Hopefully, it will be enough to equal the number of independents who are done with him, are sorry they ever trusted him, and plan to vote for Romney.
I agree and would add that now 0bama will have to spend money in kalifornia that needs to go elsewhere. Not good for Barry "The Destroyer" Obama since his fund raising is running at half of 2008 and he has a huge burn rate already.
Anecdotal evidence is that I live in the only county in kalifornia to not have voted for Prop 8 and I have seen less than a handful of 0bama/Biden 2012 bumper stickers. In 08 every other car had one.

No, but the SEIU, which holds the deed to the Democratic party, is worried that Big O is going to take them down with him. Heck, with the economy the way it is, they can't even provide a decent full retirement with medical and inflation adjustment at 50 for their members any more without bankrupting the state.
