Only 54% Of Young Adults (18-24) In America Have A Job

Only 54% of young adults (18-24) in America are employed, the lowest in 64 years, and 7% worse than when Obama took office 3 years ago. But the ones who own “green energy” companies and donated to his campaign are all doing well.

Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one. For recreation, I run, hike, kayak and play tennis but will not consider synchronized swimming under any circumstances.

  • Ok... I go to be real some of the answers to the troll are rather amusing. However I don't understand why y'all keep doing this to yourselves... :-D

  • I hate to point out reality but that big negative slope change right around the end of the first quarter of 2007 was when Nanzi Pelousi and the demokrat party pushed though the minimum wage increase.

There were those that said doing that would dramatically increase youth unemployment but these people were told they were hysterically emotional and knew nothing. That increasing the rate for unskilled workers would do nothing to youth unemployment. Those people were later proved to be correct.

Those that failt to learn from history are doomed to vote demokrat.

    • Minimum wage increases, don't ya just hate those. I mean why should executives have to give up their 100k bonuses for trivial things like fair wage laws and living wage compensation for their employees.

How dare minimum wage workers demand that they get a wage increase once every decade and take money away from their boss's 50 room mansion.

      • So basicalky you're jealous of the exacutives. Get an MBA and run your own company. We'll see how much you pay yourself and how much you pay your unkilled, uneducated workers once its YOUR ass and company on the line. Until then, you have no frame of reference for your statements. Shut up.

        • Wouldn't john have to graduate from high school first? It appears he is another worldly wise teenager who has been spoon feed the liberal stew and has taken a liking to it. That's why he believes he deserves a bunch of free shit paid for by those who actually work, not siting in the basement telling everyone else what they are doing wrong..Forget the MBA, I see him going to clown college, or a beauty/tattoo school. And more than likely he will fail at that and demand the goobermint help him out with more free sheet. A true leech on the leg of society.

      • You are so ignorant!

Untold numbers of papers, articles, scholarly publications have been written about the destructiveness of the minimum wage. It pushes up everyone's pay ( therefore the overall cost of labor), contributes to inflation, and becomes a zero sum gain. Worse for those never hired or displaced due to the artificial lift in labor costs. Obamacare is also doing the same thing. All government intervention here and morons like you, john, just eat up the whole living wage charade. You are worse than a fool.

          • I'm into the 2 minute hate too, (great reference) but with Joan, you get 3 weeks worth in 1 day!

          • Have debates with Alien...at least when he is stirring the post he will make good points. Sometimes I think he really believes the things he posts here and other times I'm pretty sure he's just being the devil's advocate (so to speak) and just arguing the other side just to see how you would counter it. Clever to say the least. ;)

          • I understand the need to argue with someone who has opposing viewpoints. But John doesn't even understand his own arguments.

  • Looks like I'm one of the lucky ones who's getting a degree in something useful (Computer Engineering), and I've already got a job at a Fortune 500.

  • This is really no surprise, most people fresh out of High School have never held a job in their lives, due in part to their parents. And when they attend college, instead of a major in engineering, they go for a liberal art, because it's easy.
As Rocky would say, " That trick never works"

  • manufacturing has been destroyed by the lib turds, thus making smart business's export every job to the biggest sweatshops on the planet to make a profit:CHINA,MEXICO,VIETNAM,MALAYSIA...the 54% who have jobs have shit jobs, and don't want them, whether they're full-time or part-time and the 56% that look for finding work will not find anything. the vocational schools are lambasted by everyone, and insist hs kids go to college. if you're not a business, economics, or finance major you might as well wipe your ass with your degree, and celebrate minimum wage jobs which will be the only job you'll be able to find after college to pay off your DEBT...learn a trade, or make $8 an hour it's not new information to anyone, but all these kids have brain washed pipe dreams.

      • Can one of you guys go into the John and jiggle the handle, the "john" appears to be running and wasting water and not doing anything else...

      • I agree with you and you still hide my posts. I guess you're just ashamed that you finally agree with me.

        • You have no reading comprehension skills at all. The only thing "agreed" upon is the fact that jobs are going overseas. Most here would completely and totally disagree with you on the cause of that. That is what you seem to have missed out of Gunboat's post. Based on the stark differences between Gunboat's posts and your posts demonstrate clearly that you are not in any "agreement" with the majority of posters here.

  • I see so they are not elected because it is not a direct election? Or they are excused because they didn't do what YOU wanted them to do. So then run for office, be the guy who doesn't get bought off.

    • Yes, an interesting insight into john's "thinking" process. Unhappy with government, he blames corporations. 1+1=POTATO.

      • Just like how the majority of the posters here blame the poor for paying taxes they don't want to, even though corporations take most of your tax money in bailouts, there is NO way they could be at fault right?

        Keep Occupying

        • John, the solution then is NOT to give the government our money so they can turn around and give it to their friends in corporations.

          • A government that was operating within it's Constitutional limits couldn't do what John is upset about. But does he complain about the Government not operating within the law?

            I don't know, I don't read his posts.

  • so who is you beef with the Congress people who we elect to uphold the laws or the companies for trying, once again, to be act in the best interest of their company?

    • "people who WE elect" That's a joke, we all know the popular vote doesn't matter in the slightest anymore. Electoral delegates can be bought off to vote for whoever corporate america can manipulate best

        • Damn Rose, that was what I was going to say!
However, john has once again proven his ignorance, because ONLY the President is elected through the electoral college. Congresspeople are elected by the direct vote.

          Once again the troll FAILS!!!!
Now, go whine somewhere else you brainless little girl (john/joan).

          • Clearly American History and Government (civics) were not his strong subject in school. And if I had written my Senior ressearch paper with as little research as he has shown on his corporate tirades, I would have failed the class!

          • Of course you would have failed. Those who control America's educational system won't take to kindly to exposing the truth or saying anything that is not involved in their plan to brainwash this country's students into believing that their government cares about them.

          • And in a perfect example of my point, note please I said your RESEARCH was lacking. I never said anything about the subject matter. But because you are so driven to spew what you think makes you look and sound cool and educated, you missed that altogether! Idiot.

  • And thus justifies the Occupy crowd. What with Corporate America sending all their jobs overseas, where else can we go?

    Keep Occupying!

    • JESUS H CHRIST!!!!! Can't you come up with ANYTHING other than Corporate America and OWS bullshit? You are so uninformed, and so hypnotized by your communist mentors, you run the risk of being so stupid you forget to breathe. Go peddle your shit somewhere else. You are taking up valuable space here.
*sorry Kimmy & drb. I'm back on the wagon.

    • John,
companies are amoral they are in business to make money and so long as they do it legally they are going to do what they see best for their busniess.
You could pitch a tent and drain the tax payers (middle America you claim to want to help), you could follow the jobs where they go or you could help strengthen Capitalism.

      • Think? No, just regurgitate droning puke tones. Useful idiot, functional illiterate and all the original thought and character of a stuffed iguana. Think is not part of its doing.

      • That's all you have to say. I guess there's nothing left to say when there's evidence right in front of you proving my point. And I didn't even have to post it.

    • If Gingrich would have won the nomination I think he would have. My only hope is that Romney, because it looks like we are stuck with him, will have to same ferocity towards Obama that he has shown towards his GOP challengers. There may be hope.

      • Don't hold your breath. I think Romney is more uncomfortable with his Republican opponenets than with Obama.

      • Re Romney. Good point but I doubt he will do it. It would offend the media. Likewise the GOP leadership and RNC. They're called the stupid party for a reason.
With all the campaign gold they have been handed, I hope they surprise me and actually use some of it. But I've been let down by these dolts too many times to be optimistic.
