A rabbinical council in Israel has convicted a dog of housing the spirit of a lawyer and has sentenced the unfortunate creature to death by stoning.
While this may be an off-the-wall sentence, we’re sure the court must have had its reasons. In the meantime, having PETA attempt to claim some form of moral superiority is absurd.

“By sentencing an innocent animal to a painful death for such an absurd reason, this rabbinical court has not only completely discredited itself but also violated tza’ar ba’alei chayim (“the suffering of living creatures”) — one of the most important principles in Judaism,” PETA said in a statement Thursday.
“Rabbi Levin should be given a mandatory psychiatric evaluation, and PETA intends to call for criminal charges against him for inciting cruelty to animals,” the statement continued.
There’s a lot of posturing and douchebaggery in the comments surrounding this article, but the case does raise one vital question:
How can you tell if your dog houses the reincarnated spirit of a lawyer?
Sounds like a cry for a top five list:
5) Screws everything in sight.
4) Miserable cur is no one’s best friend.
3) Screws everything in sight.
2) Chases only ambulances.
And the number one way to tell if your dog houses the reincarnated spirit of a lawyer?
1) Screws everything in sight.

"miserable cur" is a great phrase
Oy vey! That dog helped me beat a felony rap! Maybe Glenn Beck will save him when he goes to Israel? (Everyone knows lawyers' spirits inhabit mosquitos, leeches, and ex-wives)
It's amazing people are making stupid bickering when this story is about a dog being stoned to death for what is basically witchcraft. How in the hell could you fault PETA for trying to save a dog from being stoned to death? That seems to be a universally uncontroversial thing to fight for.
I don't fault PETA for trying to save the dog, but PETA treats animals like crap when they cannot or will not take long term care of them when they are drop at their door so they have no credibility. However yes this insanity and it should be stopped.
It's a dog. Are you serious? Do you really think animals need rights?
Not the same as human beings because that is crazy, however animals shouldn't be treated badly just for the hell of it and this does sound crazy.
have you never owned a doggy?
I ha d the opportunity to watch these PETA freaks first hand a couple years ago, the Circus was in town and of course they had to be there (money from daddy and no sense of self worth) to video tape the animals going in and out of the event. They tried every way possible to annoy and interfere with the employees and our idiot Police Captain made friends with PETA and would not allow us to "explain" what they were doing wrong. Well then comes Karma, I took my lunch break, went to KFC, got a box lunch and pulled my patrol car right up to them and enjoyed my Lunch. The PETA folks seemed to be somewhat upset with my dinning choice, so every Officer there did the same thing. Shortely after that one of the tigers (male) being brought in for the show took a liking to a PETA Freak and "sprayed him" from over 30 feet away, direct hit and extremely stinky...I could not stop laughing. and HEO-7, Chickens are "smarter than a PETA person", and dogs are way smarter than both of them.
Two years ago , on a local radio station , the Peta rep , who was there to protest McDonalds McNuggets ( actually it was how the chickens were raised and then killed for McNugget purposes ) , stated that " A chicken was as smart as a dog ".
I nearly wrecked my vehicle laughing . The women spoke for about 20 minutes and EVERY call into the show mocked her for her utter lack of reality.
(OT)/sorta---- In my many years of dealing with animal rights activist , I have only met (2) older jewish women who believed that the life inside a pregnant women was human. Therefore its ok to slaughter an unwanted baby.
The life inside of a pregnant women / not human . A chicken is as smart as a dog. Nonsense is nonsense , even to GOD.
Amen, Brother, amen! I don't have time, space, or inclination to raise pen (type on my lap-top) to PETA or any of it's godless and pathetic clones and even if I did, Mr. Editor and Mr. Admisitrator would have to shut me down because of all the nasty characters I'd be using (!*#&^@*&%^*$^&**$###!%&^$%~**!!!).
What I heard was the dog kept peeing on the Bible, so Rabbi Levin reached the obvious conclusion.
They may have had their reasons, but it is insanity. I think that a non-hypocritical animal care entity would have been better at trying to save the dog. PETA as it is, lost its relevance once they treated animals as badly or worst as the people they come down on.
The spirit of a dead lawyer would not inhabit a dog's body, dogs have positive virtues and are loyal. In karmic justice a typical lawyer would take over the body of a tick or maybe Chris Matthews.
