Southern California candidate comes up with sure vote getter: Vietnamese hip hop.

Phu Nguyen Music Video

Wow. Just wow. Phu Nguyen, a candidate for the California State Assembly, decided that it would be a good idea to record his own hip hop masterpiece called “Phu the Phu the best.”

Yes, of course, he’s a Democrat.

Nguyen’s lyrical masterpiece includes this catchy refrain:

I say Phu the Phu the best,
Phu the Phu the best

IHateTheMedia.com’s resident music expert (the Administrator’s 22-year old son) tells us it’s a parody of a hip hop song by Drake called “Best I Ever Had.”

Where’s American Idol’s William Hung when we need him?

  • Haters gonna hate I guess. Phu didn't write the song, let alone record it. Sorry to burst your bubble but just because his face is up on the video doesn't mean that he had anything to do with it. A couple of homies and I wrote up the lyrics and recorded our sore voices in support of the campaign. If you don't get it that's cool.

    • Hey Andrew, thanks for joining the conversation, and taking the time to answer our questions. I thought your video was funny. Good luck on the hits.

    • Tell us more. We'd love to hear the background on the story. Who are you guys (not by name). Why did you do it? Do you have a connection to the campaign or are you just an admirer like "Obama Girl?" I honestly think our readers will find this interesting.

      • We're just a bunch of students who like Phu. We think Phu's the best choice...so we made a song about Phu being the best. Simple as that!

Also thanks for the publicity guys. The video has gotten more hits than we ever even dreamed. Is this what they call viral? haha

        • I admit I know NOTHING about hip hop music. I had to ask the Administrator's son if it was hip hop or rap or some other genre I'd never even heard of.

So I honestly want to know more about you guys. You said you were students. Where? Somewhere in OC? One of the reasons I'm interested is that I'm an old OC guy. And, yes, this is what you call viral. IHTM had about 20,000 hits yesterday and I'd assume a good percentage of them watched your video.

I applaud your initiative. Now we just need to work on your politics.

          Seacrest. Out.

          • I helped Andrew work on the song. We are on the latter end of college, I'm personally on my last year, finishing up a BA in Philosophy.

This song cover really was meant to be nothing more than one of those "horribly bad" productions that ends up being funny as a result. Due to the fact we spent only around five hours crowded around a mac book and a mic to record this with no rehearsal or practice of any kind, I think we did fairly well for ourselves. It was mainly done for fun and on our own time.

We did this because we like Phu, and we want him representing the district. We think he is a great choice, and is definitely a far better one than the opposition. We weren't directly endorsed by Phu's campaign to do this, nor were we even asked.

This isn't about politics for me, it's about what is best for the community of the 68th.

  • Our government has sunk to a new level. Politicians, following Obama's lead, treat political office as a step toward becoming a celebrity instead of national service.

  • I lasted 22 seconds after clicking play before killing it.....

And this a$$clown is actually likely to win? Elrond is right, Cali is hosed. It is a beautiful state with gorgeous scenery, but chock full of idiots and morons who have turned the place upside down. Glad I left, although I may go back for a visit to Yosemite one more time.

  • California is so f*cked. The election campaigns of clowns like Moonbeam, Boxer and Phu are symptomatic of the Golden State's political and economic collapse. Great nations are not murdered, they commit suicide...and California is the first over the cliff.

If you live in California, seriously consdier moving out if the Donks win, because nothing you own will be safe.

    • The last time I checked, it was TEN TIMES more expensive to rent a UHAUL truck to move away from California, than it is to rent one, over the same distance, to move in. Everybody's leaving.

    • No no no. If you leave in California, please stay there to take your medicine. We don't want your kind migrating to other states and f*cking them up too.

  • That's actually pretty funny. For a Dem. I couldn't listen for too long though.

I wonder how many of the "dreaded N Words" he had to edit out....Which were not edited out during a recent episode of All in the Family I saw on TV Land...Said by George Jefferson....
