There's much in your statement I agree with - much of religion is the invention of man. Men with peacock attitudes and grand temples to show off are repugnant.
Christians will not claim their specific view on secondary issues (that which divides Baptists from Presbyterians, etc.) keeps anyone from heaven. Free grace provided by God, accessed through the gift of faith which He gives to His elect, the object of which is the biblical Jesus and not any half-baked imitation is what saves. And no church or preacher can deliver that.
God did describe true religion - James 1:27 (ESV) Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
I agree with much of what you and the others above have said about the church as a whole. I'm no preacher, but I do attend a small Baptist church regularly. There is a lot of good in a lot of churches. You have to find a good Bible centered congregation that is seeking the Truth.
After seeing some of the Charleston AME Church victims family members forgiving reaction, I am convinced they are a Bible centered congregation that gave God glory in the midst of tribulation.
I'll also agree the Baptist denomination is not the only way, but Christ must be the standard for He truly is the only way. When you take your eyes off of Him, you are going astray. Church has help me in that respect and has for most of my adult life.

I'm with ya, sifi. I am a Baptist, fired from being a pastor from a small church because they could not bear the truth. I also manage a digital Baptist library I send to people, fits on a DVD, consists of more than 2,000 books, articles, and sermons.

Sad so many in the church don't want to hear the truth but would rather have their ears tickled and treat church like a country club.
The internet can be a wealth of Biblical information and commentary but you really have to tread lightly and make sure it lines up with the Bible. I have Thompsons Chain Reference, Leaders Library on DVD as well as other teachings on DVD, several books and hundreds of links to reference material online. None of it compares to just prayerfully and slowly reading the Bible itself, contemplating and really trying to hear what God is saying to me.

I have always thought organized religion was a crock. Why should I pay some preacher wearing $1000 suits and $300 shoes to tell me how God thinks we should live when I wear $30 Wranglers and a pair of worn out shitkickers?
What about all the grandiose buildings man has built? Aren't they merely monuments built for the gratification of man? Look here Lord, look at what we built just for you. If I remember my Bible teachings right Jesus had no trouble teaching while sitting on a rock beside the road, He didn't need a fancy building. And I don't need one either. I can talk to God while sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee in the morning, watching the sun come up over the lake, and thank Him for another beautiful day.
Religion has nothing to do with God, it is mans invention. Men created the different sects, God didn't. Catholics say their way is the only way to salvation? Bullshit. So do Baptists, Lutherans, Methodists, Mennonites, Jehovah's Witnesses, Jews, Amish, Protestants, Seventh Day Adventists, the Westboro Baptist loons and the Muslims. They all say the same thing, believe our way or you will surely go to hell for being a sinner. And tens of millions have been killed over the ages because of these differences of opinion over what God and Jesus said to us in their teachings.

We are definitely on the same page. I believe in God. I don't believe in church. I'll go to be polite on occasion but I'd really prefer not to.
Perhaps he prefers they call themselves Catholics, which is where his "responsibility" ends.
