I honestly don't know all the ins and outs . of t his. what I DO k n ow, it that over the last 40+ yearsof energy bills I have been paying, one thing has been consistent. they promise a decrease in the cost of electricity, and thenth we cost goes up. Haapened with nucleR after weoaid . out the ass for plantsto be built that had enormous vostoverruns, thent h ey refused to . se us t he power as . promised. Then came wind. We again paid a surcharge for the buildingof said wind turbines, only to find the wrre . in another part of the grid and we got nothing. Now we have oneof the biggest solarvarrays in teh state, at great cost to the consumers. Yet weare always threatened with brown . outs, blackouts, and now they are pushing to raise the thermostat from 3-7 pm tosave on cost. In Texas, I think itbought to be a law that any NEW constr u ction should hav e sl o ar panels, but that would mean people could actually live without City Public Service. And they can't let that happen!
Check with any person you know who might work in the electric power industry. They will tell you just how tight the grid is stretched. When the rolling brown outs and black outs start will all the greenies be upset and challenging the new EPA standards? Nope, it will be Bush's fault.

In the linked article there's a mention of the California climate credit.
Power companies have to pay for pollution permits when they emit carbon dioxide. Part of that permit fee is credited to consumers on their electric bill. Another portion of that fee goes to fight climate change (whatever the hell that means). So California charges a fee which causes the power providers to raise their rates but you get part of the rate increase back as a credit.

It means buying crap sold by businesses that multi-millionaires like Al Gore and their cronies have invested big bucks in (and are reaping big bucks from.) Crony capitalism doesn't work if you don't have pals in the gubbermint to force the sheep to the fleecing.
The whole "carbon credits" thing is a total scam. What will happen, at least on a global basis if they have their way, is that nations like the USA will get a number of credits that is too low, by design I might add. Then nations like, say, Zimbabwe & North Korea will get too many credits, also by design. The idea will be to get industrial powerhouse nations to have to buy unused credits from the Zimbabwe's & North Korea's of the world in order to prop them up financially.
End of the day, we are taxing air, & a few connected scumbags are going to get rich, until the plug is pulled. Since it is not a really commodity, & will exist only by gov't force, it will collapse like all things progressive. Like Detroit, letus hope that we can limit the damage.

...it's part of the social engineering that is required for their dystopian fantasy that they will attempt to exempt themselves from. It's immoral, & the MSM doesn't have the balls to axe why we have not built a nuke plant since the late 70's, why we have not expanded our refining capacity since the late 70's, why the feds put such massive restrictions on drilling for oil, why they are regulating coal out of business, & why they are attempting to jam the highly unreliable wind & solar as they are doing this. Gas should cost no more then $2 a gallon, & when people see their monthly utility bills getting close to their monthly housing cost, will they have the intellectual capacity to figure out why? Judging by voting patterns, I say no.
