Proglodytes trying to rebrand Health Control narrative by calling the uninsured by choice “freeloaders”: Let us explode this fiction right here. This notion that all Americans have a responsibility to carry health insurance. We do not. It is most critical, if we are to remain a free people, to regularly indentify what they would have us ignore and emphatically reject this yoke of servitude to our neighbors and the state in the matter of our supposed responsibility to have health care. There is no such responsibility. Our health is not the business of the neighbors. Our bodies are not their property. Nor are they the property of the state. We am not their servants. We am not their slaves. They do not own us. And they do not have the rightful authority to conscript us into their service. Nor have they the right to confiscate our other properties or labor. And if they’re really concerned about the freeloading then release the tax slaves from this unnatural obligation to pay for the food, housing, education and now health care for the actual freeloaders. But they can’t do that. Because if they did there would be no one to buy them votes.

  • I haven't had health insurance in over 10 years. My wife came down with Type 1 diabetes when I was between jobs and after that we couldn't get insurance for her. My new job offered insurance at $1,500/month for just myself with a $10,000 deductable - no thanks. Since then my wife has had eye surgery twice. We got a 70% discount because we were paying out of pocket. Both surgeries together were a drop in the bucket compared to what I would have put out in insurance cost plus deductable (had it been me). Two years ago I had to have rotator cuff surgery. Needed an MRI to diagnose so shopped around for a price quote. They told me $10,000 if covered by insurance but if self pay it was $350. I shelled out $350 and had it done the same day. Then I negotiated the cost with the surgeon and anesteiologist (spelling?) - 4 grand. Next was the surgery center. They quoted me $52,000 if covered by insurance or $4,200 if self pay. To make a long story somewhat shorter, total cost to fix my shoulder including surgeon, anesteiologist, surgery suite, and physical therapy (at $130/pop) came to just over $11,000. This freeloader paid it all off within a month. Had I purchased insurance it would have cost me 18 grand for the year and I still would have paid 10 grand in deductable. So instead of 28 grand for the year, I spent 11. The problem isn't health care, the problem is the middle man - insurance. We need a totally free market where government doesn't dictate competition into oblivion and we can buy just the coverage we actually want/need. If left to do so, all I would have is catastrophic coverage and not the crap the gov't is forcing me to buy. Now that I find out I've been a freeloader by paying my own damn bills I can add that to my resume as I've also been labeled a terrorist as a military vet/hunter/gun owner/NON-LIBERAL.

    By the way, a co-worker told me he had to pay $450 deductible for his MRI that was billed to his insurance for 10 grand. He was less than happy that my out of pocket was $100 less than his with insurance.

    • Wow, those prices differences are stunning. I agree with you on the catastrophic insurance. If everybody went that route it would solve a lot of problems. Nobody goes to the doctor unnecessarily when they're paying the bill out of their own pocket. And I'm old enough to remember how much better the relationships were between doctors and patients when patients were also paying customers.

      Now the doctors' customers are insurance company bureaucracies.

      • Our Chiropractor isn't covered by insurance. We pay $40 a visit cash. When it was covered, the deductable/copay was $40.

          When I had insurance, my copay for one prescription that I take was $70. I go to Mexico and get it for $30.

          • The biggest mind-screw is that the V.A prescription program charges you $8-$9 per script.
            They started sending me double sized doses of my blood pressure meds, and told me to cut them in half.
            Then, there is the deal where they charge you the same $8-$9 for a script that you can get at Wal-Mart for $4 a month, or $10 for 3 months! So you're paying the V.A. $24-$27 for a script that you can get for $10 outside the gooberment healthcare program!
            If that's a sample of what Obamacare is going to be, then we're all in deep kimchee!

          • I don't expect Obamacare to be as good a program as the V.A. I expect it to be as good as the DMV.

          • I even forgot to mention that my local grocery store pharmacy gives antibiotics and my diabetes meds for FREE! While the V.A. charges $8-$9 a month!

  • We have GOT to make these morons start showing their work. Challenge them to explain exactly HOW someone who pays cash for their healthcare is a freeloader?

    As opposed to the illegal immigrant who goes to an emergency room for a sniffle, gives fraudulent contact information, and walks on the bill? If you don't think this happens, check any hospital along the Texas/Mexico border, if you can find one that hasn't shut down from the cost of providing "free" healthcare.

    As opposed to the Texas Medicaid recipient, who is allowed SIXTY DAYS per year hospital stay?

    • Our hospitals really feel the pinch of all those unpaid, even in part. On the other hand, many illlegals will not go to the hospital, no matter how ill or injured they may be, for fear of being deported. Neither way is at all fairwe need to completely overhaul the immigration system, accept as many hard working immigrants as possible, and as fast a s possible. Screen out the drug mules, idiots and criminals. THAT would be real Progess!

    • My Feebleness was accusing me, without any evidence of course, of being one who goes to emergency rooms for a sniffle. No, I can't stand hanging around with the illegals and the other dregs of society. I avoid hospitals with a passion. Almost every time I've been to one, I showed up in an ambulance.

  • It cracks me up that they are calling the people that pay cash for their healthcare "freeloaders".
    I suppose the people that are getting free healthcare are the responsible ones?

    • When I first married, many moons ago, my wife and I were both self-employed. We looked at the health insurance situation and found that we could buy catastrophic medical insurance for a couple hundreds per month... for BOTH OF US. We were 23 and 21 years old. If we wanted insurance for costs associated with pregnancy, the costs were geometrically higher, prohibitively higher. The insurance companies aren't idiots. They know two twenty-somethings asking for pregnancy insurance are thinking about having children. So we skipped that, had our first child and it cost less than four months of insurance premimums would have cost, hospital plus doctors. Second child was a C-section and cost what two YEARS worth of premiums would have cost. Oh well. Shit happens. We paid the bill over the course of a couple years. Add up the child-bearing years altogether, and the two childbirth experiences were still cheaper - MUCH cheaper - paying our own hospital bills than the premiums would have been. I don't know when it happened that everybody thinks everything should be "insured" and free. Paying for having your children is part of the ritual that young couples face if they want children, not something that society at large owes them.

      Of course, Obamacare requires that ALL OF US now have a policy that covers childbirth, so those of us past 55 will now be paying a second time. Beyond the mandate issue, it's simply unfair.

  • I flipped on the TV to Fox and Fox News Sunday (?) was on. There was some asshole Democrat tried to say we have to "move forward" because the Supreme Court ruled that Obamacare was unconstitutional AND good policy/idea/whatever. Of course, the Republican wouldn't let him get away with that. And the Democrat had a smug look every time the Republican called him on his bullshit.

    Anyway, he mention that the tax is focused on freeloaders. He actually used the term. So, the Daily Kos and the modern Democrat party are in perfect alignment. Why don't they go to someplace where no one else is located so they can try out their "utopian" schemes on each other? Then maybe the sane people can get things done while while they learn nothing and wonder why their plans continually fail.

            He also claimed that the individual mandate was no different than expecting an individual to insure their care before driving it on the street. Never catching onto the very important difference that driving on a public road is a privilege afforded by the state. Existing is not.

          • Its really all about EMTALA, right? Remove that, and you'd have no "free riders" or freeloaders at the ER, and no need for the individual mandate. ER visitation is a privilege afforded by the state (forced supply/service in otherwise resistant market)

          • I had someone on Facebook try to make this point with me when I said that the Federal government had never required American citizens to purchase a good or service. He said that it's the same as requiring liability insurance on your car. I replied that car insurance was a state thing, and therefore not a Federal thing. He defriended me. :)

          • That is the ultimate difference with this behemoth bill the feds are ramming into our national orifice. State mandates are state business, just like Amendment 10 allows.

          • hmm good point, actually not far off. We'd gotten smoky days in Denver (serious haze), but lately storms are cleaning everything up.

            Was tragic in Colorado Springs. I flew out to San Fran for Google I/O that week and you could see smoke everywhere.

            Even though we had fires all the time in AZ, i don't remember deaths like in Co Springs. Now I think its mostly contained and forgotten, unless you live(d) there. If i were a better man i'd drive down there and see how i could help. But I'm in a cubicle..

          • I used to live in C springs and am glad I can't see the devastation. Our houes was on a hill above the city and we had an unobstructed view of the mountains from Cheyenne Mountain north Pas Pike's peak. We could see the red of the garden of the gods and the foot of Pike's peark. I think waldo canyon is a little north of where we were ( the Academy was about 30 min north of us) but I am sure it all looks awful now. And so many homes lost! What a tragedy.

      Maybe a little off the subject, but I happened to land on "this week" on ABC on Sunday. Democrat Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley kept saying "Swiss bank account" and "Swiss bank accounts" in attacking Mitt Romney's wealth. "Would you rather he had an EBT card?" I thought at one moment. When it comes to hatred of successful people, liberals remind me of the French revolutionaries and the Russian revolutionaries, though so far without the violence. I've heard O'Malley has big ambitions for 2016 and beyond but he was most unpleasant on "this week". He was debating Jindal but isn't in Jindal's league as a communicator.

  • Here's what I think about going on a long rant like that, Kip: I think more of us need to do it, and do it more often, and do it more consistenty. No more letting the comments of liberals slide at cocktail parties and during friendly family discussions. If we don't start confronting the people who are trying to enslave us, then not only will we end up slaves, we'll have the added shame of having gone quietly. Rant on!

    • Thanks JP. I agree. And I think we must continually state our core beliefs in simple stark terms. There are those out there that are unaware of them. And it isn't their fault. When the opposition controls the narrative it isn't very long before falsities are so placed into the public conscience that people start to believe that not buying health care makes you a "freeloader", or that congress has unlimited power to compel action so long as it is framed by a tax. And so I think just putting beliefs our beliefs out there quite a lot of people will be exposed to something they might never have thought of before.

I love how Princess Pelosi and Company brand those that oppose this as not caring about the sick, or the destitute... but in the same breath, explain their reasoning as making those supposedly same sick and/or destitute into freeloaders! They claim that the GOP doesn't believe in the sanctity of life (seriously?!) while pushing that abortion is a beautiful and necessary thing. The sheeple eat it up! And seriously believe that if Mitt Romney is elected, contraception will be outlawed.
