Proposed SF tax break to hire felons clears hurdle. First no free toys in McDonald’s Happy Meals and now Hire-a-Felon. We suggest SF test all applicants for the Board of Supervisors and Mayor for mental illness before they’re allowed to run for office.

Ahhh!!! You can no longer get a FREE toy with your Crappy Meal, BUT in San Francisco, if you buy a Crappy Meal, you can get your toy for ten cents!!! One guy owns fifty percent of the McD's franchises in San Fran. While he didn't say this in the interview I read, it sort of sounds like he's saying "Hey socialistic San Francisco supervisors, eat a Big PLASTIC bag full of shit!"

To make sure they have one?
I think Occupy SF was just getting tired of non homosexuals coming to their camps. So they lobbied for them to get jobs easier, can't let a couple of bad apples spoil a good STD filled Orgy.
This is nothing new. When I lived in NJ I remember being asked if I was a felon by perspective employers because they got a tax break for hiring them, also happened here in FL.
A haven for felons. Good idea. Being a haven for the homeless and illegal aliens did a good job of attracting more of them to the area. Now more felons can be attracted to the Bay area.
Well, the snarky bit is, of course they want felons to get a job. The democrats can't stay in office forever, you know.
I do feel that felons that have served their time and paid their price deserve a chance. However, its not always good to indiscriminately give them work just anywhere. After all, a felon who has actually rehabilitated himself is probably way too honest to work for Goldman Sachs, George Soros, Solyndra, the ATF, or any part of the Obama administration.
I don't think this is necessarily a bad idea, despite originating in SF. The timing is horrific - with the Sock Puppet economy as it is and 9% official unemployment. This is not the time to be playing favorites with the least desirable potential employees. I can see lots of opportunity for scamming the system, and with Demonrats in charge, that's a given. On the plus side: 1) Preventing recidivism is a commendable goal. 2) It is doing it in an essentially conservative way, with tax incentive, rather than authoritarian mandate. So - not completely 2 thumbs down here, but no thumbs up either.
Why should mental illness be a test for public office? One man's 'mental illness' is another man's 'Progressive Dream of Perpetual Prosperity".
