This week’s fight over raising the federal debt limit exposes a key weakness in the warfare-welfare state that has bestowed power onto the Democratic Party: Without an ever-growing share of the economy, it dies. Every vital element of the Democrats’ coalition — unions, government workers, government contractors, “entitlement” consumers — requires constant increases in payments, grants and consulting contracts. Without those payments, they don’t sign checks to re-elect Democrats.
Like it or not, Obama is not the new FDR, but the new Gorbachev: a man forced to preside over the demise of a political system he desperately wants to save.

The only major element of the Democratic base that doesn’t receive government payments is the professional class (lawyers, engineers, stock brokers and so on). These high-earners amount to less than 5% of the population and are not reliable Democrat donors.
The Democrat Party, busily buying votes with your money. Where does the Party of Parasites eat when the host vanishes? It eats crap and dies.

You mean d'crats hit the proverbial wall? I would say the Obama era is that wall. The selfishcrats or selloutcrats, labor unions whatever you call them -- bet the House on Obama, and lost. While we got rid of the trash on Nov 2010, we left in place the many socialist democrats. They are oath-breakers and need to go away and fast.
I wish people would quit believing FDR was some sort of miracle worker. If Hitler hadn't double-crossed the same puppet masters FDR had his ass would have been booted in '37 with a 15-20% unemployment rate. Obama is a new FDR...or at least what FDR would have been without a world war to get everyone back to work and a destroyed Europe, Asia, North Africa to keep them working afterwards.

When responsible people decide that we don't want to have children, we don't want to be healthy, we want to do whatever we want, we don't want towork, we dont want to save and do all the other things that responsible people tend to do... What is going to happen is that there will be no one for the government to leech on. EVERYONE will go to the government for help, but the government doesnt make its own money it TAKES the money from its citizens and therefore when the citizens decide to stop being citizens and start being babies needing government to take care of them cradle to grave, government will collapse.
People don't think their crap through! They just ASSUME that people will ALWAYS do the right thing even if they are being penalized and insulted for doing so! It is incredible! I dont even understand it. Insult and denigrate the people in which you depend on for existence? REALLY?! This is a good and sound strategy? Is kind of like an abusive husband or boyfriend: "All of what I do to you is your fault. No one will love you the way that I love you. You are ugly and useless and only I can tolerate you... now go and make me dinner or go to work and bring me all your money..." I dont think so I want OFF this abusive relationship NOW!
The media likes to pretend that the Democrats are the pols sticking up for "the little guy, the poor, the dispossessed, the handicapped, etc." Bull crap. Those people don't make thousand dollar campaign contributions or attend 20 thou-a-plate fundraisers. The parasites driving the Democrook fraud are wealthy - GE getting tax breaks for "green" poop, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and other Wall St banks who made BILLIONS off of the housing bubble cooked up by Barney Fwank et al, plus the consultants, the contractors, the cronies, all getting millions at a clip for every stupid "green" study, educational program, diversity plan or like piece of crap the pols can dream up to fund taxpayer money to their pals.
One of my wife's relatives works as a "consultant" in California giving "presentations" on ways to teach math effectively to students. The guy was an English major and has never taught ANY subject a day in his life, so how does he have any insights into teaching math to high school kids? He doesn't, but he has somehow acquired a ticket on the California public ed gravy train. And the kids? The only math they learn is "tell mom and dad to vote Democrat."
But they have the nerve to tell us we're too effing stupid to understand why they f*cked up their budgets so much.
I followed the link and read the Forbes article, I think its fascinating how many people say Planned Parenthood, Unions, ect. dont have any political sway over the Democrat party when they contribute greatly to their electing campaigns.
I was also glad to read that their party days of power will be draining away on the same grounds that made them powerful in the first place. Talk about reaping what they sow!
I hope and am currently praying mightily for the demise of this presidency and if he should take his filthy, feckless, godless, traitorous and seditious party with him, so much the better!

I have been saying for years, in order for the Republic to survive and prosper, the DemocRAT party must be DESTROYED.
When that has happened, because the American public will not accept anything less than a 2 party system, another must fill the void. I vote for the Libertarian party. At least them and the Republicans both support capitalism.
And thus my biggest source of dissatisfaction with the Republicans, they need to realize this and strategize for the future but cultivating Libertarians, Independents and others whose commonality is anti-liberalism.
Several times they have had the Dems on the ropes and didn't finish them off, allowing the beast to come back even more hideous than their prior incarnation.
They are their own worst enemies.

I hear you, Jay; however, the trending is in our favor. Just saw a poll earlier this week indicating that the majority (nearly 2:1) of young Hispanic adults are against raising the debt ceiling. I'll try and dig up a link and post here later.
Until the "free stuff" dries up and along with it their entire voting base. It was good to read this country is on the verge of saving itself, hopefully we dont dig ourselves in any deeper right now.
