Rand Paul invokes Ayn Rand at Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing

rand paul

We admit we’re not the smartest guys in the world, which is why this thought never occurred to us until we watched this video clip. Ron Paul, a follower of Ayn Rand, obviously named his son after the libertarian philosopher and author. Duh.

What’s not to like about Rand Paul? Here’s 2:56 of the newly-minted senator expressing the libertarian point of view on the nation’s idiotic new light bulb restrictions.

“I would propose that we spend more time expanding our choices and less time banning light bulbs,” he concludes. “My amendment would make the energy efficiency standards consistent with choice and with a free society and would make them voluntary.”

Right wing extremist!!!!!!!!

  • If the Republicans don't win this year, I wouldn't mind seeing Rand Paul run for President in 2016. Though he would be up for re-election to the Senate that year also. I think Rand could appeal to conservatives in a way his Dad just can't quite do. He might bit able to put together a Libertarian/Conservative coalition inside the Republican Party.

  • Rand Paul seems to have a rare quality. Honesty no matter what the political consequences. We need that.

If he sees corruption coming from a Lisa Murkowski of Alaska on the Natural Resrouces Committee when she promotes an omnimbus lands bill that the Pew Charitable Trusts is pushing and gets in bed with the Democrats on the committee, I hope Rand says heck no.

We are not going to throw small towns in Alaska under the bus and give a large company like Sealaska something they do not deserve, just so Murcowksi can give Bingaman and Udall and Tim Mahoney of Pew a high five. Heck no.

Rand watch for S 730 in Committee Rand. And Murkcowski wants a vote on it, please put a hold on it. Rand Murkcowski raised 1.7 million thanks to Sealaska in two weeks and she gave them S 730 in return. Corruption. Rand Paul we hope will vote against it.

Now she wants to give Liberal Senators an Omnibus Lands Bill if they give her S 730, a corruput swap benefiting the company who gave her so much campaign cash, Sealaska.

  • His name is: Randal Howard "Rand" Paul. What I heard him say was, he grew up being called "Randy" and his wife shortened it to "Rand."

  • Way to go Rand, make all of us who voted for you proud. Just keep the Sr senator from KY honest and moving in the correct direction. Mitch pay attention to Rand.

    • Way to go Kentucky, looks like ya'll elected a winner! It almost shames me to say that I voted a couple of times for Jeff Bingaman, the chairman of the Energy and Natural Resources committee seen in this clip. I did not vote for him the last two times he ran for re-election but, as happens in most states, he has stayed in office because he brings home the bacon.

The sheeple here can't see that he has went way left and in reality has hurt New Mexico because of his policies. We have the fifth largest known reserves of oil and natural gas in the country and we cannot harvest the oil and gas. Mainly because Bingaman pushed legislation through Congress that made the areas where the oil and gas reserves are located state or national "preserves" so the eco-freaks would keep voting for him.

Thankfully, he is retiring after this term and we have a chance to elect a good, fiscally conservative, pro states rights, pro military and veterans for our Senator. Her name is Heather Wilson, you can Bing, Google or Yahoo her name, and check out her record. She served in the Air Force for eleven years. She is a Rhodes Scholar, said to be the first female to be selected. She was one of our House members for 10 years and butted heads with Clinton and Bush over some of their policies. The list goes on and on, she is one sharp woman.

New Mexico, and our country, needs another Rand Paul in the Senate. Ya'll can help by going to her website and giving a little money to help. Running for office costs a lot of money and if I can help Kentucky, or any other state, keep a good politician in office I do so. I do not work for Heather Wilson, I'm just asking for a little help to get her elected. I'll scratch your back, all I'm asking is you scratch mine. Together we might be able to get enough politicians in the House and Senate that will work "for the people" instead of against them.
