The sad fact is that Mr. Carr still could face criminal charges for this, if the local DA is a Progressive hack; the thinking being that he could have run away and called the cops. The fact that he chose to do the right thing will cut no ice with the local anti-gun nuts.

There have been a number of great stories about the sixties era Civil Rights movement being aligned with gun rights. How gun ownership was necessary to stare down the KKK and for groups that were undeserved by law enforcement to protect themselves without having to ask anyone for their permission. And in the end that is what Civil Rights really should be about. Being able to do the most with your abilities without ever having to ask anyone for their permission.
