Really? More poisonous imports from China?

JerkyDeaths.jpg

Really? More poisonous imports from China? This time it’s jerky treats that have sickened nearly four thousand dogs and cats, killing 580 of them. Add this one to the Chinese drywall that stunk and sickened people in 60,000 houses ten years ago, the 2007 renal failures of 500 pets from contaminated pet food made with wet Chinese wheat gluten… oh hell, who can list all the examples?

  • I quit buying jerky treats when a friend's husband who's a vet told me they are terrible for a dog's digestive system and now am so glad I did. I buy treats from my vets office (expensive, but hypoallergenic (my 8 year old Beagle has terrible allergies)) and feed them a rotation of good dry food with a little olive oil and chicken with brown rice, carrot and spinach. My 8 year old has the energy she had when she was a puppy and my 2 year old has never been sick a day in his life. A little obsessive, maybe, but I love these dogs to death as I suspect most dog owners do and a little extra effort and money is worth it to me. By the way, you guys should try to stay away from ingesting anything made in China too. Not being a nag, but I want you all to stay healthy too.

    • We buy Bil-Jac treats, they're made from chicken liver. We use Greenies Pill Pockets for giving them their meds. I make chicken jerky in my dehydrator for them, I have a heavy duty meat grinder and grind up fresh chicken breast to make the jerky, and form it with a jerky gun. They love it, it's good for their teeth, because anything crunchy helps prevent tartar, and the chicken is healthy. For their food, we have them on Hills Science Diet prescription food because they're Bichons and are suceptable to bladder stones. Our vet tells us when he dies, he wants to come back as one of our dogs.

  • This is exactly why I make my own dog and cat treats. Currently I am researching how to make my own wet cat/ dog food. Of course, I purchase Iiams, Eukanuba and Beneful, however I would prefer PittyPuppy and the kitties have "NOMS", sans the preservatives.

    • Doggie treat recipe please! Seriously. If you want, you can Email it to pojo and he can wipe your address or copy&paste it and forward it to me. Seeing as how you figured out all and got rid of all the useless stuff and have your own secret formula and all ;)

      • I'll be more then happy to send it to you Ghostie. Is it OK for PJ to give me your email Addy?

        • Sure, just be careful and play Obam-me "I know nothing" if strangers come asking questions about me, I made Crowley mad and he's after me.

          • I doubt it, I have noticed a big increase in the spam and phishing emails in my spam folder of late. I suspect it is related to the cACA law, since a good bit of them are concerning insurance.
Besides, when I send out mass emails, I always put the recipients in BCC, and erase all headers and email addresses whenever I forward an email.

    • I support this idea 100%. However the Chinese government has proven to not care a whip about their citizens. So it may not have the outcome one hopes. They may send an official they wanted to get rid of anyway.

        • Especially since most of these "I'm too good for you to even look at my shadow as I walk by, you wretched plebe." high minded socialist and statist progressives believe that the world is heavily overpopulated and could do with a good pruning, of say 6 and 1/2 billion (with a B) people, or so.

          • I can agree with that, as long as they prune the 6 and 1/2 billion from the high minded socialist and statist progressives.

          • Oh, then the list would be considerably shorter; like you'd only have to kill maybe three-quarters of a billion to a billion and leave the rest of us alone...just as long as the one who shall not be named is added to the jettison list.

    • Wow, I really like that idea. Rotate that job amongst the Communist Party officials and by golly they would clean up their act.

As things stand, any American who doesn't diligently weed out all Chinese products from his purchasing is being foolish. I will stand and read the fine print on everything I buy until I know it's not Chinese.

      • I kept having issues with chemicals in my body and my naturopath and I kept trying to figure out where the chemicals were coming from. They were making my body really susceptible to disease. I decreased the amount of time I cleaned, using gloves and try other cleaning products. After some time it was discovered it was the shoes that I buy which sadly come from China. The flip flops I wear all day long pretty much were the major culprit. So I chucked them out walked barefoot at home and bought a USA made flip flops two weeks after no chemical issues.

So yes from food to clothing... get rid of it if it is made in China.

      • We do the same thing. I hate buying anything from China, but it is hard to find everything from the USA. However it can be done. And that should have been HERE not hear.

        • It's tough. I read an article on salmon and now I know that "Atlantic salmon" doesn't gurantee anything except it's that particular sub-species. It could be labeled "Atlantic salmon" and be raised in a Chinese fish farm that uses drainage water from a cesspool. Farm raised salmon from Chile is all over the grocery stores and so far it's okay, but from what I understand the fish farms were built with Chinese money so how long before they start cutting corners and feeding the fish steroids, antibiotics, and DDT? So I buy "wild" Alaska salmon and pay about 40% more.

  • The FDA can't be bothered cracking down on Chinese pet treats, they're too busy cracking down on US companies who haven't paid the correct tribute to Quagmire's administration.

  • Which evil democrat will be the first to come out and insipidly say that this is due to the Tea Party and the 13% shutdown of the almighty federal government?

    Howie Dean?
    Nanzi Pelosi?
    Mayohead Wasserman?
    Or some untern-donk?
