American government is a deviant subculture. “A chief of staff for a Democratic senator once told me that a bill that perfectly reflected Democratic policy was rejected because it was introduced by a moderate Republican.” There’s little wrong with America that a big meteor hitting Washington DC wouldn’t fix.
