Personally, It would be a great place for above ground nuclear testing...Other than that it has no purpose.
Hollywood is just part of Los Angeles. And if it and San Francisco were taken out of the equation, California would be a red state.

Oh yeah, they are after out power, be it oil and gas, wind farms, solar or whatever. THey want us to produce it and bear the cost, but then add it to a grid that includes several other states. I'm glad I live in a fairly temperate area. The people in the central valley and the desert areas east of LA are really going to scream when they get their air conditioning bills during summer. The people in the Sierras are really going to scream when they get their heating bills during the winter.
