• Ya know what? I think I'm in favor of amnesty and open borders and free immigration. Know why? I 've been doing some "out of the box" thinking and research lately and --motivated in part by some very nice Guatemalans I know-- I am seriously contemplating retiring to Guatemala. It's dirt cheap, the government is stable (and certainly no worse than what we got here -- or what it is likely to be any time soon), furriners ARE allowed to own property, and the climate in the highlands sounds amazing. You can buy a 3 bedroom house in the mountains by a lake for about $40k.

  So as far as I'm concerned, the more undereducated loafers and freeloaders get OUT of Guatemala and into the US, the better it'll be for me down there.

    I like Belize because it's the only Central American country where English is the official language. I'm pretty good with languages but when it comes to the complexities of being a foreigner trying to explain why you were going 60 in a 30 mph zone, it's nice to be using your native language. You'd hate to tell the officer his mother looks like a monkey when you were trying to compliment his motorcycle.

• The only reason that "Bitch" and "Bo'ner" were re elected is their endless capacity to cave on every issue, illegal or otherwise. Both should be disqualified from "leadership".

• So we should allow these people to stay as long as they work and pay taxes. Then we can deport those who do not want to work and pay taxes back to Mexico. Its a win win!

  • I think they misunderstood the recent election results. It wasn't an endorsement of the republican party and platform. Rather, it was an overwhelming public rejection of the democrat party, platform and direction they were taking the country. Bubohner and Mbtich need to be made to understand that important distinction.

    • They still think they lost in the last shutdown because their poll numbers went down. They don't seem to understand that their poll numbers went down because they surrendered, not because they tried to stop Obama. If they stood up to him now, after this recent election, and over this issue, they could not help but win in the public's mind.

      • Yes. They clearly lack the ability to interpret polling results. Granted they're partially hobbled by the press, but I think even that could be overcome if they would just hold fast. I'd love to see them treat the liberal controlled media outlets with the same disdain and contempt this current administration has treated Fox. Refuse interviews, ridicule them, call them on their BS stories and inaccuracies.

        • What they DIDN'T do enough of with the last slowdown, was call press events and show who was actually doing the shutdown. It was Reid that refused to compromise.

• What's the point of trying to do anything before January? The House passes something, the Senate ignores it, his imperial majesty smugly decries the do-nothing Congress. Wait, then pass something through both houses, and force him to veto it. Then Congress can label him the obstructionist president.

  • You obviously didn't read the link. They are not going to do nothing—they are going to pass a CR to fund the government without removing the funding necessary for the president's amnesty plans. In other words, they are going to actively finance his plans rather than risk another CR battle that might shut down the government.

    • Which is dumb because the last time the GOP shut the government down (not really but that's the meme) it picked up nine Senate seats and over 10 more House seats. Despite what the punditry says, it can be a winning strategy if done right.

• A cornered fascist is a very dangerous fascist. Things are going to get wild with King Barky the Liar of Fecal Touch for the next two years. Not fighting against his diktats will only embolden the boy king.
