If they do purchase it, it might be worth reading again. The left will bitch and moan about their precious 1st amendment and how that they must be free to spout ignorant statements without interference from them. It will be so much fun to watch, listen and read their crying all the way to the unemployment line.
I somehow doubt the Koch Brothers would buy the LA Times, or the NY Slimes for that matter. Why spend a lot of money on something that's going to go out of business anyway?

That the Koch brothers are "trying to buy" implies a hostel take over, which would make the whole process, were it successful, much more effective in terms of how the paper's editorial slant would change. They would come in and clean house!

Because the thumb of Michigan is full of beet farmers, Poppa. Hundreds, maybe thousands, of square miles of big beautiful beet farms. And the world doesn't need that many beets. So they need to make sugar out of those beets in order to earn a living, but they can't make sugar as cheaply as Brazilians and Cubans can make it out of sugar cane (duh) so they need to keep sugar prices high enough for beet farmers to survive. God forbid they should have to grow something people want to eat. Meanwhile, here in West Michigan we had the company that invented Lifesaver candies but recently they moved to Canada because their main expense is sugar and they can buy sugar on the open market in Canada.
Just talking about this shit makes my blood pressure rise. I can't remember how many jobs we lost when Lifesaver moved, but it was a bigass factory and it had to be a fun place to work. More fun than a beet farm anyway.

We just can't let people voluntarily exchange goods and services without massive government oversight and burdensome regulations.
