Sales of camp sites nationwide throw Girl Scouts into turmoil

• Camps didn´t bring any profit to liberal greed.

• The left started in the schools and now have branched out into both Girl and Boy Scouts. When someone insists that kids today actually exhort themselves and they apply some basic knowledge and some bran functions along with some sweat equity, then you are harming the "children" and you must be stopped.

  I enjoyed my time in Scouting, learned a lot. A great deal of it was by trial and error, more error than trial. That is what scares the living hell out of the left, people willing to do what ever to make themselves better and not depending on others to do it for them.

  • Did you get to participate in a Klondike Derby or were you in one of the southern states? Pure unadulterated rip-roaring fun. We always performed poorly but had way more fun that should be legal... even while we were freezing our asses off. If you've never pulled a sled like a husky and watched your friend slip, fall face down in the snow, and get run over by the sled, you haven't really laughed.

    • Yes I did get to do the Klondike Derby you are correct a great deal of fun.

• I smell a rat here. The Girl Scouts have a LOT of good property. My guess is that either the leadership is selling to their cronies, or they have a plan on how to blow the money. Or both.

        • Look jcryley, the first amendment does not entitle you to vandalize any blog with your verbal excrement any more than it entitles me to walk into a neighbor's house during a party and begin shooting my mouth off in order to deliberately offend and enrage his guests. I'd be thrown out on my ass and rightly so. Think about that the next time you feel the temerity to accuse anyone of depriving you of rights that you've demonstrated little real understanding of.

        • I know it's a waste of time but I'll try again. Hey Junior! When you start posting reasonably intelligent comments about the subject at hand your posts will stop fading into night.

          BTW, you are not being censored, only the govenment can do that. The people who run this blog are free to ban anyone they please, the First Amenement does not mandate they post your (or anyone's) inane comments. I marvel they haven't banned you yet.

          You are free to post at whatever blog is foolish enough to admit you.

• Liberals take over, things go to shit, they act puzzled and surprised, then they propose a solution that guts the fiber out of the thing they ruined. The Girl Scouts lost their way years ago, becoming little more than a cookie selling, birth control pushing, liberal agenda loving adjunct to the public education system. That they are struggling to keep members and pay the bills is not shocking to anyone with half a brain. The Boy Scouts will be in the same place in a couple years. My grandson already abandoned Cub Scouts after only a couple months - all they did, according to my daughter, was sit around selling stuff to the Scouts and the Scouts' parents. My daughter was disgusted and my grandson was bored. It was worthless. Every single "volunteer" and a good share of the parents were decked out in full Cub Scout uniforms - which is dorky beyond belief - so they were making sales sure as shit. When I was in Scouts, we looked askance at any parent who wore a Scout uniform - we pretty much figured any adult wearing a Scout uniform had a screw loose in his head. Most of us Scouts could barely put half a uniform together ourselves. If we went to a formal Scouting event we might be able to find a shirt and kerchief somewhere in the neighborhood. The goal was woodsmanship, self-reliance, virtue, and how to be a man, not looking good in a photo.

• It appears the Girl Scout leadership faces declining membership, a lack of interest in camping and sees today's girls (and boys) as more interested in computers, social media and pop culture rather than camping. None of my grandchildren (who are old enough) show any interest in scouting.

  It's a shame, I loved scouting and scout camp, but that was back in the 50s, things were much different then.

• Pretty soon we will not be able to use the words "boy scouts" or "girl scouts".
  They will be called the gay scouts.

• Soon-when girlscouts of america are no longer selling cookies, planned parenthood will lose half their funding.
