• I never believed in illogic or hypocrisy. If it seems that you see them, IMO, you have not figured out the real motivation. It is possible, even probable, that you have been intentionally misled as to what the motivations really are. It may be done consciously or subconsciously.

  Things may seem illogical to us, but the reasoning on their part may be very logical - it's just based on insufficient data, false data, and/or fixed ideas. So, possible explanations:

  Statism is more important than gay rights. And Saudi Arabia is pretty much the ultimate in statism. So given the choice, they side with the statists. Besides, the victims are faceless, nameless brown people (yes, they're really caucasians, but very few people see it that way). If the executions of gays can in any way be connected to the US or even better, to Big Oil, trust me, they will start "caring".

  The principle of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" is more highly valued than individual rights. These are people who were never particularly upset about collateral damage. So what if a few people (especially when they are the aforesaid faceless, nameless ...), die in the process. What is more important is that we under no circumstances stand against an avowed enemy of the US.

  • I agree with your assessment and would add that the motivation in this exercise is domestic and two-fold; 1) bully the republicans in preparation for the 2016 elections, and 2) keep unflattering news about democrats off the radar screen. This propaganda effort has been effective on both these points. That those dutifully following the propaganda line are hypocritical will not be discussed by state-run media and will just not be part of the story. Sales Force and others showing support for this bullying are examples of organizations/people simply sucking up to the state in hope of currying future favor, or are just useful idiot true believers trying to publicly show off their adulation and worship of the state.

• The administration just finished negotiationing, if you can call it that, with a country that executes people for being gay. Not a peep about that!

  • Of course not. That would force the left to admit that the "religion of peace" is actually one of hate. "And when they came for me there was no one left to protest"
