San Francisco Restaurant Responds to Minimum Wage Hike by Installing iPads

• Last time I went to the Red Robin in Beggersfield, they had a pad that the waitress would bring around to the table, and you could order from it if you wanted to. In an extremely JP-like moment, I decided the waitress was MUCH cuter than the pad, so I had her lean over the table and show me how to work it. Questions, questions. Oh, did I have questions. Poor girl, spent more time leaning over the table explaining it than she would have if she'd just taken our order.

  Then, I had her take our order anyway. Yes, she also looked good walking away. Happy customer, good tips. Hey, now that I think about it, do you reduce your tips if the machine takes your order?

  • Of course.

    • Well, went to a different Red Robin today, since they have free burger offers for loyal customers. Again, the waitress was cute as hell, and we never even looked at the computer on the table.

      • You have such a tough life. ;-)

• Lets hear it for automation!!! Coming soon to every large chain restaurant out there. So what do you suppose the next step is going to be for these socialist morons, ban robots?

• Two things,...

  One, the guys holding the signs in the photo are far too old to be still making minimum wage. Well,....unless they're chronically stupid and useless.

  Two, I'd go to the restaurant in San Francisco just to try out the wall mounted pads and see my food show up magically in a cubicle, except two problems. One, it's in San Francisco, Two, it's a quinua restaurant. That crap's not edible.

• Guess the SEIU got what the wanted, less members....

  • The SEIU leadership doesn't give a damn about their members. The ONLY thing they care about is their dues, that is it.

• Hey here in the Bluegrass region of KY, there is a national chain that is doing the same thing. All in anticipation of the looney leftist attempt to raise the minimum wage to eventually $15.00 per hour.

  Technology has made things so much easier. Guess what all you dumb asses who want to raise the rate. Go ahead, all you are doing is raising the unemployment for the young, first time job seekers. The very ones you claim to have the most compassion for.

  • They're also reducing the number of folks contributing to Social Security, which will end up screwing them in retirement.

• They have those at Olive Garden now. The first time I took a look at the options but couldn't figure out how to order what I wanted, so I moved it aside and waited for the waitress. And that's what I do every time now.

  • They don't have any Italian restaurants where you live?
    Olive Garden is to Italian food, what Hillary is to Conservatism.

    • I frequent a real Italian deli and a real Italian restaurant frequently. I used to stop by a real Polish guy's deli in SF to get real Kielbasa (unlike the shit they sell in grocery stores).

    • Maybe, but the manager of the one near me hires really cute waitresses and they all wear black stretch pants and... well, you know.

        • At least at hooters you never run into members of the religion of peace...Their heads would explode.

        • Ok, now we know the REAL reason you push the pad aside and wait for the waitress. If all the waitresses looked like Hillary, you'd be all OVER that pad, wouldn't you?
