Science journalism: as bad as regular journalism. The Lancet just published a study saying obese people are 30% less likely to develop dementia—the journal Neurology just published a study saying obese people are four times more likely to develop dementia. Sounds like the scientists have dementia.

One alsi needs to rememberthat obesity and morbid obesity are not interchangeable terms. A woman 5'8" 150lbs is on the upper level of acceptablew ght. That same woman at about 185-190 is Obese. She will look a littlechunky, but not hugely fat. But according to the current values, she . Is definitely obese. People like the guy in the pucture above are morbidly obese. One of my daughters is morbidly obese. 5'8" 240 lbs. But she can and has run a marathon, egen with a bad knee. Even morbidly obese are not always unhealthy.
My father in law has dementia, he's 82+ and has never been overweight in his life.
I think I'll opt for ignoring this study.
Same with my step gr granma. Crazy as a loon at the end very paranoid and . Weighed about 88 ponds soaking wet with her raincoat on. My paternal grandmother and 2 of my Aunts also developed Alzheimer's. Both bone thin!

My mother in law is 80 and skinny as a rail, always been a hard working farm wife, now she is showing early signs of it...Just another reason to agree with you and believe all these studies are bullshit.
Science is bad because it too often contradicts really, really smart people like Obama, Kerry, Gore, the UN IPCC, Mann and other corrupt Ivy league professors, you-name-them hollyweird celebrities, etc. So science must be managed by these smart power people to fit the manufactured reality they live in. The democrat party, communists and their progenitors deal with science like so:
1500s - the sun revolves around the earth. Don't challenge this settled science or we'll ruin you.
2000s - global warming is man-made. Don't challenge this settled science or we'll ruin you.
I am always saying scienceis not the beall, end all that some (mostly scientists) would have us believe. As we learn more, . The "settled" science changes. Keep an open mind, use you brain where possible!
Looks like that's not all the "intelligentsia" f#>&ed up

What is wrong with you people? The science is settled! \off
If one becomes a journalist he has a 100% chance of being a lying hack.
Bingo. Bad science is being subsidized, particularly politically expedient bad science. When something is being subsidized, you get a lot more of it.
Government grants are causing science to die.
More funding is needed form more extensive study. The evidence clearly shows that obese people may develop dementia, or not.
Bacon is good for you, Bacon is bad for you, Butter is bad for you, Butter is good for you, Eggs are bad for you, Eggs are not bad for you, Too much coffee is bad for you, Coffee is not bad for you, Red meat is bad for you (because cows fart), The list goes on and on.
It is like lost in space in the science world, Doctor Smith is in search of something to make him famous and all that happens is one screw up after another. "Danger! Danger Will Robinson, Doctor Smith is eating bad food!"
Simple rules, eat good food, drink water, and don't eat gas station sushi.
I decided many years ago, I will eat what the hell I want.
Eat healthy, exercise, don't smoke, don't drink....and die healthy.
Nope, gonna outlive at least 2 of my doctors.....good enough for me.
Remember what Mark Twain said?
"Part of the secret of a success in life is to eat what you like and let the food fight it out inside."
and:
"If you quit smoking you won't live longer, but it will seem like it."
