Would a fine, upstanding liberal like John Kerry actually attempt to save $400,000 in taxes by mooring his new yacht in Rhode Island instead of the state in which he lives?
No, he’d never do that because that would be hypocritical. On second thought, that’s exactly what he’d do.
The Boston Herald headlines Mr. Heinz’ hypocrisy:
Sen. John Kerry, who has repeatedly voted to raise taxes while in Congress, dodged a whopping six-figure state tax bill on his new multimillion-dollar yacht by mooring her in Newport, R.I.
Isabel – Kerry’s luxe, 76-foot New Zealand-built Friendship sloop with an Edwardian-style, glossy varnished teak interior, two VIP main cabins and a pilothouse fitted with a wet bar and cold wine storage – was designed by Rhode Island boat designer Ted Fontaine.
But instead of berthing the vessel in Nantucket, where the senator summers with the missus, Teresa Heinz, Isabel’s hailing port is listed as “Newport” on her stern.
Could the reason be that the Ocean State repealed its Boat Sales and Use Tax back in 1993, making the tiny state to the south a haven – like the Cayman Islands, Bermuda and Nassau – for tax-skirting luxury yacht owners?
Cash-strapped Massachusetts still collects a 6.25 percent sales tax and an annual excise tax on yachts. Sources say Isabel sold for something in the neighborhood of $7 million, meaning Kerry saved approximately $437,500 in sales tax and an annual excise tax of about $70,000.
C’mon, we say cut Kerry a little slack. Do you have any idea how many bottles of ketchup you have to sell to make $400,000?

Birds of the feather , flock together
A case of a dinghy playing with his dinghy
Maybe the taxes on such items should be charged at the ownetr's primary Address,m nt where the boat is moored, since by definition, that changes. Still, the Kennedys hide their money off shore. All fine for us to pay out the nose, but the rich keep getting richer because they gat to actually KEEP what they earn, plus interest. And of course, he has amazing health care as a Senatorm so he's not paying much for that either.
These wealthy elitists always condemn the rich for "not paying their fair share" but they certainly employ the use tax-free instruments, offshore investments, trusts, and the like for people of their ilk, knowing THEY would be subject to tax harm if these were eliminated. The rhetoric about the rich is to whip into a frenzy those Marxist-leaning populations and parties who thrive on class warfare...Divide and conquer the nation on class and ethnic divisions, adopt the mantra, "Do as I say, not as I do" (it fits perfectly), and take over every institution in the nation all while docking their foreign-made boat in a tax-haven...We are witnessing a neofascist/socialist takeover of America...and they always referred to Republicans and Conservatives as Nazis...what a cadre of conniving radicals who call themselves "progressives". When people vote for change, they need to ask first is we are restoring the nation constitutionally, or going to a place we've never been before...if its not the first one, be very afraid...remember Mussolini and Hitler were all about hope and change too...and they acted similarly to Obama with his parties, celebrity friends, and vacations and also like Kerry with his boat! And we won't even mention Albert T. Gore...
While the "little people" fight amongst themselves (so they think) for petty little things they can grab the money bag and run.
Class is as class does. 'Nuff said.
I wonder if every time he picks up a bottle of ketchup, he sees the red and thinks of all of our men he betrayed in vietnam when he went and broke bread with and knowing him, blew the leadership of the north? Paris is awfully romantic-and he was after all on his knees the whole time he was there.
He is a douche-plain and simple-and should be treated as such (squeezed dry and then thrown away).
i agree Kimmy! Her "working farm" in Fox Chapel is about 10 miles from where I live...Yeah...working farm....
I should say the Heinz Family not her...all she did was sleep with John Heinz to get it...wait, so she and Lurch are perfect together....
I would do the same thing. The difference being that I wouldn't want ANYONE else to pay that tax either and if I was a person of consequence I would never ask for government tax increase nor tell the little people that they need to pay more taxes for the good of the country, etc, while I don't feel like paying taxes myself.
He is a hypocrite. He is lousy. He sucks and I am glad he was never president. I personally dislike his wife. If he loves taxes so much he should paid them like everyone else. Although we all know this is his wife's money. He didn't really worked that hard for that money (and neither did she for that matter) so that is the other part that pisses me off. If he had least sweated and toiled for where he was right now I wouldn't be that harsh on him OTHER than his hypocrisy about being a spend spend spend guy and take take take guy.
I'm John Kerry reporting for duty. Not wearing my gay windsurfing outfit....but still on my $7,000,000 yacht tied up in another state so I don't have to pay taxes.....Nevermind I threw someone else's medals "away" and said they were my own. Don't pay attention to the fact I am a liar......
TAXES that by the way would help pay down your state's deficit....Of course it's no big deal that he didn't even have the boat built in America, something that could have spurred economic growth in a country that now has a $1,470,000,000,000 deficit you piece of shit Democrat.
What's wrong with American boat builders John? Or did we put them all out of business too?
Is that too over the top? I'm really pissed today. I just saw piece of crap Alan Colmes explaining away the JournOlist while not answering Ms. Kelly's questions on Fox.
What do you expect Botox is getting expensive. The two of them sure are burning through it too. Just another loud mouth liberal liar telling others what to do while he skirts around the laws and rules.
Maybe he can take it up the Mekong River and visit his old stomping grounds.
