This whole article is a joke. right? Like ANY of us ever thought they DIDN"T lie to us? Old news. What are we deflecting from now?
I would gladly sign up for doubling the salaries of senators in exchange for taking them out of the legisative loop altogether. It would be the best money we ever spent. Just let them hang out, go to fundraisers, ribbon-cutting ceremonies for pork-barrel edifices bearing their names, and spend their evenings with prostitutes in their pricey Georgetown townhouses.
I know that there are some senators who pop in there out of nowhere, but for the most part, these are former Representatives - former well-established Rep's. That means these are people who have spent a long long time inside the beltway. If you think an acid trip is a disconnnection from reality, forget it. 20 years inside the Beltway, now THERE'S time in never-never land.

No. Actually, they have no clue as to the existence of real life in the first place. It's all bills and pressers.
Outside of maybe 2 senators, I have no use for any of them, Dems or Reps. And give those 2 some time. There is no guarantee they will retain any sense of reality in the long run, either.
If the tax code were switched from progressive to flat, you take away the ability to use the tax code to trade & get rich for members of Congress. A majority of them would leave if they could'nt do that. Because the tax code is just something that is used to punish political foes or reward political freinds, & it's purpose is to finance the legitimate functions of gov't. That seems to be the easier road because term limits don't look like a realistic option.
We all know the media would crucify the Republicans if they defeated a CR and ended up shutting down the government. Ted Cruz has the balls for it but he can't be expected to supply balls for all the Republicans. At some point the GOP has to grow their own.
Political correctness is a wicked sorceress and she has a mantle full of pickled Republican testicles.
Everything these days - fraudulent elections and Republicans who do nothing; brash moves against the constitution and facile military leaders who do nothing - is beginning to make me wonder what the world's elite and wealthiest have promised those who should be defending freedom.
