Shadow of a blue dress

Shadow of a blue dress. Too funny. The artist who painted Bill Clinton’s official portrait for the National Portrait Gallery hung a blue dress so that it would cast a shadow on the fireplace mantle, explaining it’s “a bit of a metaphor in that it represents a shadow on the office he held,” and pointing out that the 42nd president is “probably the most famous liar of all time.” Ouch.

Off thread but am looking at relocating closer to grandchildren after retiring. Looking at Fredericksburg TX. Seems right in the middle of where I'd like to be close to Austin and San Antonio, but not to close. By any chance do you know much about there?

        • Fredricksburg is a lovely little hill country town Nothwest of SA by about an hour. It is a popular retirement and tourist location, with heavy German influence. You don't have to speak German, but they'll love it if you do! Gettinga little expensive, butbis still affordable. Since they are in the throes of rapid development and growth, choose your property carefully. Imagine how developed or not you are willing to accept, then choose a property that meets that criteria. We'd love to have you as a neighbor!

          • Thanks for all the info. I speak just enough German to get myself in serious trouble :). Coming to Austin in July and while I'm there I'm going to take a couple of days to visit.

          • All I can remember are the dirty words in German my Dad taught me...

Hey Rose what is Waco Like and the surrounding area, I know Baylor University is next door but how is it political wise?

  • Slick Willy wearing an orange jumpsuit would have been much more appropriate.

  • Isn't his hip position kind of odd? Shadow of the dress he should have put a shadow of Monica on her knees. With him standing like that, there is even room in front of him for her.

  • The two will forever be entwined. The two things missing are the stains and the cigar. Is it just me or does slick Wille look a whole lot like Ted Koppel?

    • That's was my reaction. At least Clinton was sometimes fun. Obama has nothing going for him to mediatre the lies!

    • I was going to say that Clinton may be the most famous liar but Obama's lies are doing far more damage to the country.... but to quote another famous liar, "What difference at this point does it make?"

      • what's the definition of sex, I mean a lie, bill's had some whoppers in his day, and then he had to lie

    • Hey! You know the science is settled! It's black and Blue according to the climate clingers!... :)

  • Should have painted him with his pants down around his ankles. That would have been a metaphor for not only what he did to Monica, but the rest of us.
