I really hope this arrogant asshole tries it. Instant lawsuit that will be settled out of court for anything the victim wants.
Seeing as how he has made threats against law abiding citizens, in public, yeah.
Boy done lost his damn mind! That is another fool that stop taking its medication. The hell is wrong with him?! He better stop, that is not a good look and someone can accessorize him with bullets (in proper self defense) if he ain't careful.
KQ, that is absolutely the worst use of the English language I believe I've ever heard (seen) you use! Are you being Raaaaccccciiiissssttttt, or something??? (sarc intended) :-)
I guess so!
This so called sheriff should know that he and his officers can not be everywhere all the time. When it comes time to protect oneself. How does the sheriff expect the citizenry to be able to protect themselves? If one checked into his background and his previous positions. It will be discovered that he most likely backed the retreat from danger and opposed stand your ground in FL.
The sheriff should also know a crime happens in seconds and we get there in minutes.
The issue was specifically OPEN carry, and his concerns over that.
Well OK gang, guess what. Once again you've been taken in by irresponsible reporting. What he said was nowhere NEAR as inflammatory as the first linked articel makes it sound. Try this on for size: http://www.saintpetersblog.com/archives/247390
"In their statement today, the Florida Sheriffs Association said, “Today, The News Service of Florida posted a follow up article that provides the full context and statements made by Sheriff Gualtieri which makes it abundantly clear that the initial article did not properly reflect the Sheriff’s comments. This does not excuse the individuals who took the incorrect information and created a false narrative even beyond the incorrect reporting. ”
Among other things, the comment about someone walking into a bank robbery with a gun open on his hip and "he’s going to take one in the chest" -- FROM THE BANK ROBBER. THAT was the concern the sheriff was expressing.
Yes, this could have been a very accurate and inflammatory story -- IF YOU'D MADE THE STORY ABOUT MEDIA LEFTARDS WARPING A COP'S WORDS.
Sorry, the sheriff is still a jerk'
FTA:
In her new story, Menzel wrote up the longer Gualtieri quote regarding an officer arriving on a scene and seeing someone with a weapon.
“It’s a question of whether, at 3 o’clock in the morning at the 7-11 store, when there’s a silent hold-up alarm and the deputy pulls into the parking lot, and the citizen is walking out of the store with a .45 stuck in their holster, let’s say, and a cup of coffee in their hand — it’s not going to be a good situation for that citizen,” Gualtieri said. “At a minimum, they’re going to be thrown down on the ground with a gun pointed at them — or worse.”
That is a false premise. When was the last time someone held up a 7-11 and calmly walked out with a cup of coffee in their hand and a gun on their hip? They come running out with a bag of cash in one hand, and a gun in the other, shooting at arriving police.
When I caught a car thief in my Toyota 4x4 pickup, red handed, and got him out of there, onto the ground, face down in a puddle of his own urine, because of my Mini-14 "assault" rifle, my wife had called the cops and reported that I was holding a thief at gunpoint. As the first of five cop cars came around the corner into the apartment parking lot, I leaned my rifle against a post where the thief couldn't see it, and stepped back from it, with my hands held high.
The female officer came out of her car with gun drawn, which I expected. I immediately told her, "That's your thief, that's my truck, and that's my rifle over there." She held us at gunpoint just like that until two more officers arrived, had one take me aside, and another cuffed the guy on the ground.
Out of courtesy to the officers, and safety for all, when the police arrive, disarm yourself and make sure you don't seem to be a threat to them. They have enough threats to their lives on a daily basis.
That boy better stay in Florida, he wouldn't last long around here. We tend to bow up when anyone threatens us and that little tin badge don't mean much.
I'm British and I've been one of the greatest fans of the US Constitution since I first learned that the Movement which gave rise to the sailing of the Mayflower originated in my home County of Nottinghamshire.
No, no, no and NO again.
The Second Amendment does NOT give the right to keep and bear arms, it simply recognises that inalienable right of every human to protect him-or her-self.
All the Second Amendment does is to forbid the Government or other Authority from INFRINGING that inalienable human right. The Constitution implicitly states that the Right to keep and bear arms existed prior to the Constitution and that nobody and no institution can at any time or in any form do anything which might affect that Right.
Kind of embarassing in a way, that a Brit understands our Constitution better than most Americans.
I'm sure you know, then, that a good part of the US Bill of Rights is drawn (in some cases nearly verbatim) from the English Bill of Rights?
ACLU coming to sue him in 5,000,000...499,999,999...4,999,998...
I think you left off 9 more zeros.
Yes Pops, at least nine.
typical commu-nazi pud---thinks he runs a police state---he has no right to shoot law abiding citizens but the citizens have the right to defend themselves from harm--lawman or not--maybe he'll come up against the regimes "armed citizens group" [ISIS] and will be put out of his misery. maybe mr badass should apply for the chi-raq police and patrol the gang infested south side
Armed citizens will have the advantage in being able to should back, sooner or later he will be beaten to the draw. On the other hand it could be in jail for assault with a deadly weapon, or worse.
Who let this moron have a badge? Makes Barny Fife look like a brain surgeon.
It's an elected position. I'm sure he ran as a liberal asshole.
Methinks the term "liberal asshole" is redundant, is it not?
No, I can be an asshole, & I can't stand liberalism. But the sheriff is a disrespectful idiot who is unfit for office, & should be removed.
