Ships await rescue for days in Lake Superior ice

• Interesting story, but nothing to do with Warmingology either way you slice it. Just broken ice that got swept into one area where the ships were.

  • OK, so it doesn't have anything to do with warming, but it still looks good, because if there wasn't excessive amounts of ice generated over the winter, they might be freed by now.

    • The great lakes are a lot like the Rocky mountains, there is always some ice year round...I had an older cousin work the cargo ships. His first season (1975) was when the Edmund Fitzgerald went down..

  • This has been going on for years. These ships only make money when they carry cargo, and a lot of captains try and make as many trips as possible. There are always one or two that get caught in the ice, or get into trouble with winter storms, (think Edmund Fitzgerald) because they try one trip too many, or take a chance on the weather/ice.

• A king sized order of global warming for the Great Lakes!
