You can’t make this stuff up. In the words of ghambrick, who tipped us to this story, “She just got an award in Georgia for suffering through the ordeal of her USDA firing. From a Republican state senator. I’m not kidding.”
The Atlanta Journal Constitution has the details:
Shirley Sherrod, who lost her federal job last year in a mistaken furor over supposed racism, was honored Tuesday in Atlanta.
State Sen. Robert Brown, R-Macon, gave Sherrod the Hosie Miller Courage Award. The new award was named in honor of Sherrod’s father, who was a farmer and community leader in Georgia’s Baker County.
“In making this award to Shirley Sherrod for her display of courage, integrity and commitment to justice during the ordeal she endured at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and throughout her life’s work, a very high bar is established for future awards,” Brown said.
Sherrod was forced from her job after a conservative blogger posted a video of part of a talk she gave telling a story about how, years ago, she was offended by a white farmer’s attitude when he asked her to help him avoid losing his farm. She said she considered not helping him. The video left out the rest of her speech, in which she said she overcame her own emotions to help the man. She was accused of racism before the full story came out. She is suing the blogger.
In the spirit of bipartisanship, we’d also like to honor Shirley Sherrod.
Shirley, may you get everything you deserve.

Shirley Sherrod did not exactly lose her job. Yes, some idiot in the Agriculture department jumped the gun and fired her, but when the entire recording was made public, she was offered the job back amid multitudes of apologies. She CHOSE not to return. She has not suffered, unless it is by trying to figure out how to spend the money she got after suing the government. She is a weasel, plain and simple, and she is misrepresenting at best, lying at worst.
I feel the same way about her suing Breitbart as I would if Bernie Madoff sued his trust fund administrators for failing to detect his accounting problems.
She is just another political hack at the trough.

Our inability to define words will always prevent us from progressing as a human race. And no, i don't mean "progress" like libtards use it. I mean real, actual progress. Hey senators, do us all a favor and try to understand what racism actually is before you do things like...oh, i dunno....represent us? Or, perhaps, give out awards erroneously?
Of course, God knows by now, if you actually do pick up a dictionary, you'll find that the word "suffering" is broadened every day. Can enough new copies even be made?
Remember that blog about loser politicians not wanting or knowing how to leave gracefully? Well here's another one.
Imagine that, a blogger taking a speech out of context. It sounds to me that they used a page right out of the lefties and loonies play book. As for Sherrod, she left little doubt about her true feelings.
She took the money and ran, now she needs to go away and start paying her fair share.
She is not satisfied with the money she got she is now going after Breitbart. I am surprised they didnt do a story about it here.
Yeah, Breitbart got trolled on that one.
All goes to tell you that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Sadly no mention of the law suit poor shirley won from the government of several million dollars! I assume that is the reason she obtained her job in the first place. She is and will always be a first class racist that thrives on playing the race card while her own incompetence fuels her hatred for "the man"
